WIN.
I started playing Wind Waker in the first time in a LONG time and you know what?... I love this game so much... The whole game feels so right. Like at the beginning when you're just running around Outset Island? It makes me just want to go take a nap, it's so relaxing.
The graphics are beautiful, the story is epic, the dungeons are perfect in length and difficulty, the items and weapons are some of the best, the characters are awesome, and the world is absolutely huge!
Plus, that Ganondorf battle... You know...
Also, in my opinion, Link is meant to be a kid, not some adult, awkwardly animated, pretty boy like in Twilight Princess... Toon Link is way manlier than Adult Link anyway, because he's A MAN OF THE SEA!!
And Twilight Princess just sucks anway...
YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.
One last thing... I loved all the sailing everywhere in this game, most hated it, but I will never understand I suppose...
@Thefil- Haha. nice.
The music was great too.
@Brando- I can see your points, I think it's probably just a matter of tastes as well. Majora's Mask was your favorite? I don't think I've ever heard that one, haha.
In TP, Link's model did seem awkwardly designed, but the world itself wasn't that bad. The actual game (Ugh)... that's another story.
WW is an incredibly beautiful and amazing game, but it doesn't affect me as much as OoT, which I consider to be the adventure game, period. WW just feels more lighthearted, but I still love it.
Psh, you aint got nothing on this badassery
Wind Waker lacked the amount of dungeons it needed to keep pace with the other great games in the series. If it had the third guardian dungeon (instead of just a cave to bomb into) and a proper fire/ice arrow dungeon, it would be the greatest Zelda game ever. But as it stands, it's just a completely fantastic Zelda game. It may favorite in the series to just pick up and revisit, but it's not my favorite to play from beginning to end. That goes to LttP.
I hope they go back to the WW style for the next Wii Zelda title. After Phantom Hourglass outsold Twilight Princess by a huge margin, I think it could happen.
And apparently, it wasn't..
And before anyone says that site isn't accurate, well, it's pretty close.
But I'm not trying to make a fool of Jonathan, as I respect him. Merely pointing out a mistake.....
I just think that Zelda needs something else, something fresher and newer. Something original and different, yet still classic Zelda. Cel shading isn't exactly original or eye-popping anymore. A new direction for the series would be nice.
@Twister1988- I'm telling ya! Joplin has one of the best gaming scenes ever! We need to network somehow.
So I want a "new" way to play and a new look and feel, but of course I still want classic Zelda in there. Perhaps change the setting? Maybe Zelda doesn't take place in a rural area with castles and whatnot, but instead goes for some sci-fi elements, or something along those lines. I'd always wondered what that might be like....
I'd totally be up for that! Me and some of my friends meet up on fridays for our Friday Night Shooters. I live just barely enough out of town to get sucky internets so I can't participate in FNF.
Although Okami is my favorite Zelda.
My biggest problem with recent Zeldas is difficulty.
Wind Waker needed two things: more lengthy story and more pirate-ness.
@Twister1988- I meant more of a way to get gamers in the area together on the net, but that'd be awesome too. I have a tight group of friends that meet together all the time as well, but we mostly play old games. I'm also starting a podcast with a couple of them that'll be on iTunes called "Midwest Nerdcore" so watch out for that.
@Dan Citi- Gurren Lagann rocks. Kamina is the manliest man ever.
@Mirax- Yeah, it's hard for me like that too because I have such fond memories of playing and beating Ocarina (my first Zelda game) with my little brother. I got into the older ones later on, and I think Wind Waker is the best overall, but I don't have the same memories of it.
@Danmartigan- Yeah, but the thing I thought about Oblivion was that the majority of the world looked the same and had the same enemies. Even though there were lots of different towns and stuff, not much stuck out on it's own for me.
