About
I'm mostly a retro gamer. I don't hate everything after the 90's, but I tend to prefer retro game design. I enjoy alot of indie and portable games, not to mention a blockbuster title every now and then. However, like I said, the majority of my gaming takes place on older consoles.

February just got a WHOLE lot more exciting. If you're any kind of retro gamer and you own a DS, this is going to be a must buy. Do yourself a favor and check out this trailer!

I can't wait! I didn't know that it was going to have a full-blown RPG to play! I love how you have your brother (or friend?) sitting and watching you play. That just makes it all the more nostalgic for me.

For those who don't know, Retro Game Challenge is a game that allows you to experience the era of 8-bit gaming. You get a new console (NES/Famicom-like) with a couple of games to play. There's even a magazine that you read daily that bears a striking resemblance to Famitsu or Nintendo Power. As things progress, you attempt to meet certain challenges you read about in the magazine like beating games, completing levels, getting high scores, etc. You also read magazine articles on upcoming games and stuff. As you go, you get to buy more games and the games that become available are more complex. There are even sequels released to other games! It includes genres like shoot em' ups, platformers, and as I mentioned earlier, even an RPG!

This is going to be great. It's been out for a little while in Japan, but I wasn't even sure if it was coming to the US. Now I'm really happy. I hear there's already a sequel in the works which gets me pumped as well! I hope they eventually do one that takes place in the 16-bit era of gaming. That would be awesome.

I heard about this, but hadn't seen any gameplay footage. It's like they made this game for me! So getting this! And is it just me, or does the "Gaming Master" bear a striking resemblance to Miyamoto?
@Namakubi- Hahaha, well, actually that guy is from the Japanese game show that RGC is loosely based on. On the show he's forced to try and beat Famicom games in one day. I guess that the story of RGC is that he's gotten frustrated with being forced to play these games so he sends you back in time to 80's to have to play them yourself. Or something like that.

A pretty weird/lame story, but it doesn't appear to be the pull of the game in the first place.
By the way, I just discovered that your blog is awesome and that I need to subscribe to it. So I AM. Therefore, post some new stuff so that I may read it.
Wow that looks fantastic, I can't wait to throw my DS (Brick) at the wall out of frustration!
@Krow- OH NO!! You've got to get a new DS asap! It's the best console on the market in my opinion!
Heh, I'm not that upset that it's broken. I had one of the original launch units. Now should I pick up a Lite or a DSi? I'm leaning towards the Lite.
I love how the graphic corruption in the first few frames is simulated too.
@Krow- I'm not sure. The DSi will have a bunch of new stuff that new games are sure to require or at least utilize. However, the Lite plays GBA games. That's up to you.
