this movie just rules, i loved it, it may not be the best tarantino movie but it is still aswsome, may not be as good solo but its better in the double bill.
you have kurt Russell as stuntman mike and is great as the villian, tarantino who always has a cameo but not hsi greatest, rosario dawson just great and one of the best actress in it, rose mcgowan was alright with her little role in this film, vanessa ferlito was great and elizbeth was just great and the other great actress in this movie.
Originally released as a second-billed movie part of Grindhouse, Death Proof, a throwback to the 1970s exploitation road-chase movies, features Kurt Russell as Stuntman Mike, a former Hollywood stunt race car driver who targets and kills women with his "death-proof" stunt car. In Act I, Mike surfaces in Austin, Texas to target a group of women whom he knows; Jungle Julia (Sydney Poitier) an outgoing, dope-smoking, radio DJ/fashion model meeting her old school friends for a night on the town whom are sentimental model Arlene (Vanessa Ferlita), and local bad-girl Shanna (Jordan Ladd), as well as bar-nut hippie Pam (Rose McGowen) who tries to make Mike notice her, unaware of his sociopath and misogynist tendencies. In Act II, Stuntman Mike surfaces in Tennessee where he randomly picks another another group of women to stalk all of whom work in the motion picture business; Abernathy (Rosario Dawson) is a make-up girl and stand-in wanting a chance of pace in her life. Lee (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is a naive B-movie actress. Kim (Traci Whoms) is a tough-minded stunt woman always wanting action. And Zoe (Zoe Bell) is a fellow stunt woman from New Zealand visiting her friends. However, the second set of girls proves more though to get, and because of a combination of bad luck and Stuntman Mike's carelessness, the girls decide to turn the tables on their tormentor for revenge of their own.

10 out of 10
I'll watch this I ddint think it would rock.... so i skup on and watched planet terror which was awesome and rose Mcgowan has a fatty :d
Ending of this movie is hilarious.
The chase scenes were awesome.
If you liked Death Proof then you're okay in my book!
WHAT? DEATHPROOF SUCKED SOO MUCH BALLS. in the theatre after seeing the awesomeness that is plantet terror this movie was sooo trash. the only thing i enjoyed was the ending.
The whole Grindhouse idea was awesome. Both films were amazing in their own rights and, personally, I liked this more than Planet Terror (then again I'm a huge Tarantino slut).
Planet Terror was just a lil too far over the top for my liking. I like me a more realistic (ironically, given the subject matter) and frightening zombie movie versus a comical exploitation of the genre, but that may just be me.
Also, as always, the dialog and soundtrack was much stronger in Death Proof than that provided by Planet Terror. But then again, Hollywood has nothing on Quentin Tarantino in either of those departments, let alone Robert Rodriguez (sorry, but Once Upon A Time In Mexico was a joke... he ruined his own awesome series with that film).
Don't know if this trailer ever played with Grindhouse in America, but it's awesome and you should watch it.
Hobo With A Shotgun
well since this was the third time i watched this movie and the first with just watching this movie without the grindhouse experince
death is pure tarantino awesomeness. the dialog is perhaps the most thought-out piece of art to ever hit the screen. its like he perfected that aspect so very well in this movie.
its 10 times better than Planet Terror, which i got bored of after about half an hour, and just started thinking of Death Proof again. And you really should watch it in its entirety, because its so great it should stand on its own without robert rodriguez and planet terror.
I agree, the dialogue is totally awesome. I did like Planet Terror better, but I couldn't understand why people were hating the second film so much, when it was classic Tarantino.
Now, what pisses me off is that they're releasing the films separately on DVD and without the bonus trailers. I'm waiting to see if there's some director's cut I can get to fix this glaring problem.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who loved this movie, yes it's wordy and a lot of the dialogue coming from the girls mouths isn't believable. They actually sound like female versions of Tarantino, but the way it's filmed, the kick ass music, just the look of the film. Makes ya wanna keep watching.
Then there's that fun car chase. Which feels straight out of the early 70's. It really gets you pumped and that hilarious ending hehe! Then there's female feet, tarantino's fondness for female feet. Granted the women's feet in this aren't very pretty. Not of Chobot or Virtualgirl calibur, but skanky looking. Still, it's fun and the women really turn the tables in this movie, good to see for a change.
I have a rule with Grindhouse which is:
If you liked planet terror but thought death proof was a bad movie than you are a dumb fuck.
You have passed the test insanegamer, Das inchworm however wasn't so lucky.
They are both awesome dammit!
they did release the 2 movies separately in Australia without the trailers
They released the two movies seperately EVERYWHERE without the trailers.
Pisses me off!
@orionsaint
not believable? female versions of tarantino? thats like, every tarantino movie. the dialog is so believable, thats the beauty. its ordinary, daily dialogs that are so perfected and polished. so that, even though they talk about "irrelevant" things, it ads to their credibility and you really start to believe that they're real people.
THEN comes the whole "cool" scenes and, perhaps, the most exciting car chase i have ever seen without any computer effects and such. there are obviously somethings going on there but its so damn real its scary.
It is quite tasty
