Below is my trusty laptop, which I've owned since August 2005:

You'll immediately notice the large white spots where my hands would be.

No, this isn't the result of acid seeping from my pores (actually, it sort of is). Since I always rest my hands on the...well, handrests, the silver paint job started to turn blackish after a while. I tried getting rid of the stains with rubbing alcohol and acetone, but this only dissolved the paint.

Now it looks a bit like a negative cow pattern, which is ironic considering it's a Gateway.

Even so, it's still a pretty solid machine--runs games and scientific software like MATLAB reasonably well, and the numeric keypad was a plus.

And most importantly, it runs Linux like a champ.

Specs:

Pentium M 740 1.73 GHz/533 MHz FSB/2 MB L2
2 GB DDR2 SDRAM
120 GB 5400 RPM HDD
ATI Mobility Radeon X700 128MB
17'' WSXGA+ Display (1680x1050)
DVD+/-RW DL Drive
Gigabit Ethernet
Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Adapter

Also, first blog. Certainly took long enough.
