Below is my trusty laptop, which I've owned since August 2005:
You'll immediately notice the large white spots where my hands would be.
No, this isn't the result of acid seeping from my pores (actually, it sort of is). Since I always rest my hands on the...well,
handrests, the silver paint job started to turn blackish after a while. I tried getting rid of the stains with rubbing alcohol and acetone, but this only dissolved the paint.
Now it looks a bit like a negative cow pattern, which is ironic considering it's a Gateway.
Even so, it's still a pretty solid machine--runs games and scientific software like MATLAB reasonably well, and the numeric keypad was a plus.
And most importantly, it runs Linux like a champ.
