About Me
Hello I am a computer science major and I work as a part time IT tech at a community college. When I'm not working or studying (oh wait I dont do that) I'm gaming, reading, sketching or writing. If the weather is of a more favorable nature then I spend my time outside.

The only console I play on at the moment is my 360, as I am in the process of building my new desktop. A big fan of RPGs, fighting games, 1 vs 100, or whatever catches my fancy.

My first console was an Atari 2600 and from there my love of gaming began. I was hooked on Final Fantasy when I first played it on the SNES and have been a slave to it ever since. I consider myself a very casual and laid back gamer, not big into the trash talk and all that bull I just want to sit and enjoy my gaming experience.

All I want for Christmas is a PS3

I'm not unhappy with my 360 in fact I love that giant loud white box that sits under my tv but there's just something missing from my console arsenal. When Sony entered the console market I jumped on the band wagon and have owned and still do the first two consoles they came out with. And yet the PS3 has eluded my grasp.

Now last year for Christmas I received an 360 which I absolutely love, but I really wanted a PS3 but cost was the factor in me ruling out that gift. Now that Sony has finally dropped the price, I sit with fingers crossed hoping that I get one.

Its not that I am unhappy with my current console its just that I have always owned a Playstation, hell I have a PS1 and PS2 sitting on the same stand as my 360. I guess the biggest driving factor in my Sony love was Final Fantasy, but its coming to XBOX so I shouldn't want a shiny new PS3 based on that right? In fact I would honestly feel bad if I played Final Fantasy on the 360, having played it first through Nintrendo and then playing 7 like a fiend on the PS1. I guess its just what I'm used to and I hate going outside my comfort zone.

I guess it boils down to brand loyalty, Playstation has brought me such joy and so many countless hours of game-play that I feel almost bad about not owning their newest hardware. I'm no fan boy I just love the Playstation, I always have and I always will, so Santa feel free to drop one off in my stocking this Christmas if you don't mind.

Love/Hate:Guitar Hero/Rock Band (its not what you think)

Now before I anyone jumps the gun let me explain, I love Guitar Hero. When the game first arrived on the scene it was a new and fresh idea, letting players jam along with their favorite songs. The guitar peripheral was awesome making the experience that much better, immersing the players by letting them strum along with the songs.

But soon I began to grow tired of just playing the guitar when deep down I really longed to play the drums. I often pondered why there was no drum peripheral or a game that allows you to take on this role. Then a shiny beacon of hope Rock Band was released and finally I could live my dream of being Neal Peart.

All good things come to an end and this is where my hate comes in, I love these games but the sheer saturation of mostly Guitar Hero games has left me jaded. Then to top it off we now have Band Hero and DJ Hero, whats next Saxophone Hero, Orchestra Hero, I mean where does it end. Games are already expensive enough but must publishers try to slap some paint on an idea pair it with a different controller and call it a new game? I mean there's only two versions of Rock Band, but did they really have to make new instruments for The Beatles version?

How many more Hero games do we really need, hell soon people will have to dedicate a whole room to all of their peripherals for all of these games. I know you can buy them and then just buy the games as they come out without having to buy a new guitar or what not but it just seems a waste to me. It makes me feel that game companies and publishers are to chicken to take a risk and will just put on a diffrent skin on and old game and try and pass it off as new.

Gamers are not stupid, you cant fool us. Please go easy on me this is my first blog post for the Monthly Musings and thought I'd give it a shot.
