The Score Whore Ultimate Review: Lost: Via Domus (PS3)
hpv | 2:23 AM on 08.09.2008 8 comments

What makes a great game review? Is it thoughtful analysis of the themes and meaning behind the game? Is it a detailed list of flaws and successes in mechanics and presentation?

Of course not! It's the freaking SCORE!

So here it is, The Score Whore Ultimate Review of Lost: Via Domus for PLAYSTATION 3.

Graphics: 4
Sound: 5
Gameplay: 3
Fun: 2
Overall: 2*
For Lost Fans: 5

* Scoring is on a scale of 0 to 11, because some games are Eternity's Child and some games are Super Mario World, respectively.

As a gigantic LOST fan, I agree this game sucked bad :(

Some of its Ideas were good, but it never put them together well at all.

I'm getting this game. Being a fanatical Lost fan makes my scruples exit left.

Even being a Lost fan, I don't know how anyone could expect this game to be decent at best.

This game was diabolical - no doubts there.

However, the graphics weren't that bad and the beach area in particular looked gorgeous, so 4 out of 11 for Graphics seems a little harsh. Having said that, 3 out of 11 for Gameplay seems almost insanely generous, so what the hell.....

@touch: I don't really want to add words to the perfection of a score-only review, but here are a few for you anyway.

On the graphics, you've got a rendering engine that does alright on the tiny areas in the game. It runs smooth but there is occasional pop-in, the modeling is pedestrian and low resolution, the textures are terrible, generally looking like upscales of a B-grade PS2 title, and the faces are absurdly wooden, not to mention cross-eyed and more than half-retarded on most of the characters. The beach is also my least favorite environment in the game. The crash debris is low res and the tide looks like shit.

On the gameplay side, the controls work, which is worth something, but the gameplay tasks are boring and not fun at all fun save for the chase sequences that are too short and too shallow. Generally the gameplay isn't actively offensive, it just isn't worth much. The shootout sequence, however, is truly terrible.
