About Me
I'd describe myself as a mid-hardcore gamer, mainly because I can't afford that much. However, I do own a quite a few consoles including Wii, DS, GBA, GB, PS2, Dreamcast, Mega Drive (Genesis), N64, Atari 2600, GC, Xbox - that's it I think.

I love RPG's, Zelda being a fave (naturally) but enjoy online RPG's and shooters also. I am a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings, and have a blog devoted to Tolkien news at www.middleearthblog.blogspot.com. Any Orcs can go check it out.

I also love to play the guitar, watch tonnes of films and have all night Resi sesh's. Oh yes I do.

It's a miserable sight when I go into GAME and see a row of those wonderful touch generation pieces of crap and a bunch of mothers oogling them to see which one would be best for their child for christmas. What the hell?

Sight training, Left and Right, Vocabulary bull****, cook yourself stupid...both on the Wii and DS. For godsake release some real games. I know we just had Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass which rocks so much face, but do we need any more of these self improvement 'games'. Are they even proven to work? If you're blind, you're freaking blind.

I don't want HER playing MY goddamn DS!

But the sad thing is that these are the games that are mostly advertised on TV to the mass public. Parents think that this is what little Timmy wants when really Timmy wants f***ing Mario or Metroid Prime 3!

I know I'm going a bit OTT on this subject but these games really do piss me off. Games are meant to be fun, not a chore to keep up to date with.

Unless Brain Training lets me mow someone down with a gatling gun, what's the point?

I think Brain Training is more for Little Timmy's mommy. Sight Training, I dunno, I think any video game will do that. That one looked kinda wierd. Left and Right Training? I could use that. =p

I agree with bluki.

from what i can see though, these educational games are pretty much the excuse for uneasy parents to buy it. I work at a games store, I'll suggest a DS and the parent gets shaky, i mention the 15$ brain age thats "educational" and they jump right on it. The educational games are gateway games, allowing kids to get the systems from their parents and thus start playing zelda and contra (and final fantasy 12).

That's why you don't see them on 360 or ps3, they work but they only work for parents buying. most people who own a ps3 or 360, either bought it themselves or have sweet parents.

Brain Age is sweet and was on the list of 20 top selling games for like a year or something. A lot of the educational games are trash, but if I can train my brain and eyes for $30 bucks so I'm not a blind zombie, then I don't mind their existence. Overall I am pretty sick of seeing so many crappy games come out for the DS and Wii, but that's a different story.

Bain age was fun my sister had it. I just wanted to see how 'smart' I was. But left and right training.....

I had a blast with the original game, but like any popular title the imitators are running a good idea into the ground.
