UK Gets Late(r) Left 4 Dead Release
godkow | 3:19 PM on 06.25.2008 13 comments

Since my previous title was causing some unnecessary commotion, I changed it to something less zealous. For the archives, my previous title was "The UK Gets Screwed Again: Left 4 Dead Edition". Was that a bad title? Possibly. Do I care? We'll never know.

EA has told VideoGamer.com that Europe's official street release date will be November 7. That's 3 days after the supposed "worldwide release". While it's not as bad as some other games (do you guys have Brawl yet?), it still probably sucks. I guess the good news is that hopefully in those three days the rest of the world will figure out how to actually play the game so you won't be stuck with (total) idiots.

Edit: If you are getting the PC version and you have Steam you can still get it on November 4.

To make this post look longer, I will attach 3 videos that appeared on GameVideos.com yesterday.

3 More (New) Left 4 Dead Videos
godkow | 11:32 AM on 06.24.2008 4 comments

Gamevideos has posted three new Left 4 Dead videos today showing off a variety of effects. I've summarized the main things under each video. GO!

Revive:

Good display of the new vomit effects. It looks crazy when you're being charged by zombies down a narrow hallway and your vision is distorted. The overall effect is just terrifying. I love it.

Last Stand:

This one shows off the brutality of the Witch. Also, check out the bloodbath that ensues as Louis is getting attacked. Valve might have gone a little overboard with the blood decals, but at least they look good.

Explosion:

Takes place during the finale. At around 1:49 you can see the Tank nail the player with a hunk of the environment. Awesome.

Overall, it seems that with every new video that comes out, the game just keeps looking better and better. However, I want to know how the Infected side is going. I've yet to hear any updates on the situation, and that kind of worries me. I understand that they probably want to perfect the Survivors before moving on to the Infected, but I wouldn't mind a little info. Then I remember it's Valve we're talking about and all of my worries disappear.

If you haven't yet, go check out the L4D video extravaganza that was on the front page yesterday. You will be pleased.

Note: According to 1up, the help messages come up only for new players and will go away after a few plays.

Split-Screen Confirmed for Left 4 Dead 360
godkow | 7:44 PM on 06.23.2008 6 comments

Artist's rendering of L4D on the 360.

The official Xbox website, xbox.com, has just revealed that Valve's upcoming game Left 4 Dead will in fact have split-screen multiplayer. Last I heard, Valve was trying to make split-screen happen but a large amount of technical problems stood in their way. Well it seems that they have managed to overcome these obstacles. *cue applause* If you're too lazy to click the above link, I've just pasted the info below (the ones in brackets--> [] pertain to Xbox Live). Enjoy:

Players: 1-2

Players Co-op: 1-2

Multiplayer Versus

System Link: 2-4

Dolby 5.1 Surround

Hard Drive Required

[ Players: 2-8 ]

[ Players Co-op: 1-4 ]

[ Marketplace Downloads ]

[ Leaderboards ]

[ Voice Messaging ]

[ Voice Support ]

What's that? You were hoping for 4 player split-screen? Oh well, at least the bots are supposed to have good AI. Personally, I'll be getting this for PC so I don't even care.

Also, if you missed the "Left 4 Dead Video Blowout" on the front page do yourself a favor and check it out. Just make sure to bring a pair of clean pants with you.

Limbo of the Lost ending. Enter at your own risk.
godkow | 5:34 PM on 06.21.2008 10 comments

Yes, it seems the internet phenomenon's ending has finally reached the youtubes. I'm not really sure if that's a good thing for the following reason: there is singing. At least we can see the awesome lipsyncing at work. This is your last chance to turn back.

Pretty much the next "Still Alive"...right?

Here we have the awesome cliffhanger ending for the sequel, Limbo of the Lost II: Flight for Freedom. Somehow, I don't think they'll be making a second one...

If you think about it, "Flight to Freedom" is pretty ironic name for the second one.

KING OF LIMBOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm sorry...

Awesome Gaiden (video)
godkow | 4:03 PM on 06.20.2008 3 comments

Egoraptor recently released another video of his "Awesome" series. If you couldn't guess by the title, this one is about Ninja Gaiden. If you want to see more of his work check out his site or his Newgrounds page.

You can also go here for the better quality flash version. There is an easter egg in the flash version. If you can't find it, you suck.

Since you're already here, you might as well go watch his Metal Gear Awesome series again.

Game steals levels from Oblivion
godkow | 6:46 PM on 06.11.2008 15 comments

Well isn't this quality game developing at work? According to a recent CVG article, the game company G2 Games's recent title, Limbo of the Lost (don't worry, I haven't heard of it either), has copied exact structures and textures from Bethesda's Oblivion. At first I was a bit skeptical that a game company would do something so blatantly obvious, but then I saw the pictures...

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but come on! They didn't even change any of the pictures on the wall or anything. It does look like they changed the lighting effects and character models though, and I guess the UI is different. If these screenshots are indeed real, how could the company be so stupid? Did they think no one would notice? It almost makes me sad...

:(

...but then I think of the impending lawsuit...

:D

 about me

Other Aliases: Oswoc, Ozwok, Zice, god.kow (plus any/all of those with '325' after them)

Steam ID: god_kow

Clan Affiliation: [SSNF] and our radical right wing [kssnf]

My favorite genre is generally shooters. RPGs are ok too (especially if they're free). I'm too dumb to figure out RTS games. Racing/Sports games are meh, unless something creative is done with them to make them awesome. If I wanted to play soccer, I would just go outside and do it. If I'm gonna game, I'm gonna blow people's heads off and cleanse the world of demons (things I can't/would never do in real life).

Consoles I Own (in no particular order): Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Playstation 2, Gamecube, Xbox, Wii, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, mah shweet PC

Oh and I'm part Japanese. My friends seem to think that's awesome so maybe if you guys read this you'll think I'm awesome too. Seems like solid logic to me.

Main Games I'm Playing:
Team Fortress 2 (PC)
Left 4 Dead (PC)
I've also got the random urge to play Morrowind again as well.
