My favorite genre is generally shooters. RPGs are ok too (especially if they're free). I'm too dumb to figure out RTS games. Racing/Sports games are meh, unless something creative is done with them to make them awesome. If I wanted to play soccer, I would just go outside and do it. If I'm gonna game, I'm gonna blow people's heads off and cleanse the world of demons (things I can't/would never do in real life).
Consoles I Own (in no particular order): Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Playstation 2, Gamecube, Xbox, Wii, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, mah shweet PC
Oh and I'm part Japanese. My friends seem to think that's awesome so maybe if you guys read this you'll think I'm awesome too. Seems like solid logic to me.
Main Games I'm Playing:
Team Fortress 2 (PC)
Left 4 Dead (PC)
I've also got the random urge to play Morrowind again as well.
Do I sound smart because I said cornucopia? Anyway, Valve has gone crazy with new media over the past few days, which has decidedly ended the media drought. These videos show a variety of new features which I will try to highlight above each video. At the end is a list of overall changes. Its length will be directly proportional to my attention span. This might be a long ride, make sure your wearing your seat belt. Ready? OK, let's light this candle.
7 minute long gameplay vid. Music changes depending on the situation the character is in. Overall good display of Valve's progress.
Louis getting ripped apart by the Hunter. Dual pistols now have unlimited ammo (you still have to reload though).
Shows large groups of unaware zombies. I assume this is to add variety to the mix instead of constant in your face 28 Days Later zombies.
More groups of unaware zombies. I hope this is just the difficulty they are playing on.
Shows improved fire effects along with a new feature, the mini-finale.
Good old-fashioned zombie shooting goodness. Some fire effects can be seen along with shadows being cast by the flashlight.
Shows some of the body language of the Survivors. Blood can be seen on character models.
Overall changes/notes of interest:
• Survivors can now walk through each other.
• Improved lighting effects. For example, flashlight effects.
• Muzzle flash has been improved along with every bullet having a tracer. This is so you can see where your teammates are shooting.
• Friendly fire has been altered. You can do a lot of damage to a teammate if they are at full health, but you barely do any if they are about to die. This still makes shooting without a care bad, while also eliminating threats of grieving.
• There are 2 gamemodes. A single-player Survivor campaign where the infected are not playable and a 'Deathmatch' style mode that allows you to choose, Survivor or Infected. I assume Deathmatch is just a generic name and will still be the gamemode that we've come to expect the game to be.
• Louis seems to get owned a lot. I guess there's just no love for the black man.
• Last I heard from Valve, L4D is still heading towards a November 2008 release.
• There's probably more, but I lost my train of thought and I don't feel like finding it.
I know what you mean BSD, but I assume that what you described will be the 'deathmatch' mode. I may have worded my description wrong, and if that's the case I apologize.
"There's two modes in the game. One is sort of the Survivor campaign which is where one to four players can play as the human Survivors who are immune to the virus that has broken out and turned everyone into zombies. That'll go through four sprawling campaigns - you can start a campaign with three bots playing as the other human slots and other players can join in at any point in the campaign. Meanwhile, on the other side, we have what we're calling a deathmatch mode where one to four players can take over the human Survivors role and one to four players can take over the boss Infected roles."
There's the quote from Lombardi describing the modes if that makes it more clear.
This games seems far superior to Zombie Master, but will it be preferable to me over Zombies Panic!? There are a lot of elements that make that mod great that seem to be lost here. I'm not getting the tension that ZP provides.
To be honest, I've never actually played Zombie Panic. However, I do have faith in the peak/valley system of the AI Director providing tension and excitement to L4D.

I don't know if that's possible after all those clips. I can''t wait for this to come out!

I assume they were on an easier difficulty. Regardless, that is why I'll be playing on hard.

I'm still gonna' be buying this. I like playing with teams, and TF2 players are pissin' me off...Not workin' together, guys! COME ON!
Are you KIDDING?
I thought it was meant to come out around August. Jesus fucking Christ -- my love for this game is just a constant string of disappointments.
