For today...

Plenty of people have been speculating on this one but I decided to wait it out until a press release came along. Well, here it is...

Toshiba deny HD-DVD cancellation

The original story was on many major websites and probably has a foundation in the truth but we're going to have to wait a little while longer for this idiotic race to be conceded. Suggestions that it could be as soon as tomorrow bode well for consolidating of this format war and I, for one, will be more than pleased when it's over. Especially as I haven't bought a HD-DVD player. =D

You're claiming official sources from a gaming magazine while tossing off Reuters as a rumor?

Pfft, okay...

Fact: It is happening, most likely this week, nothing has been announced publicly, but Reuters isn't going to start espousing rumors.

@dvddesign: NO! I'd never do that! Toshiba released a small statement which is quoted in the gamesindustry.biz story and Reuters listed the story as from a "company source" and therefore, rumour. I did my research!!

I agree that Reuters is normally a reliable source of information but it's not like they haven't been wrong before

p.s. LOL @ wardrox! Sorry! I know there's more than enough of this gone on throughout the format wars. There will need to be close to actual format war violence before I post anything on it again!
