Now I own a wad of RPGs but truth be told I've only seen the ending to a few of them. There are some classics that I don't own which I really should (more on that in a sec) so feel free to torture me into getting them.
I finally found a place that has Grandia 3 and Skies of Arcadia but I'm not sure if I want to buy from them because they reportedly take months to deliver. There are other titles i'm still looking for (namely Fire Emblem on the cube & Persona 3... can't find this anywhere that will ship internationally!) but I'll list all the RPGS I have and where i'm up to. Convince me to play them! I'll be making a huge order sometime tomorrow but I'm not sure exactly for what yet. The only confirmed title so far is Eternal Sonata. What do I like in RPGs? An Enthralling Storyline, some aspect of charm and as little repetitiveness as possible. The classics I don't own: Alright, I'm about to get ripped to shreds here but I don't own (or have ever played) FF IV, V & VI. Now there is a kind of good reason for this... I was going to buy the GBA versions but then I heard the DS ones are coming out. Now I'm not sure if this is happening for any ones other than IV but I figure I'd wait for IV to go 3d before I got it. VI is meant to be the best thing ever so with a little prodding I might add it to my order. Before I continue I'll just mention that any RPGs you recommend can be on any system save really obscure ones and the Sega CD. Right now I have the Wii, Xbox 360, Ps2, Saturn, cube, PSP & DS set up. The Rpgs I own (in the order that I remember them): Final Fantasy X (Finished)- I wasn't as big a fan of this as everyone else was, though I did finish it. Tidus was annoying. Tales of Symphonia (Finished) - This was the game that got me back into RPGs. I loved the pants off it, I've finished it three times. Chrono Trigger (finished) - I didn't love this as much as everyone else did but I still enjoyed it. Chrono Cross (15%) - Played it for a bit then got distracted by something else. Stella Deus (60%) - I put a fair amount of time into this one, the animation was jerky as hell but after a while you saw past it. Characters were boring. Evil guy had a very silly name too. Final Fantasy I (0%) - I loaded this up once (GBA ver) and played for about three seconds. Final Fantasy II (98%) - I'm practically up to the last boss on this. I liked it though it seems to be the black sheep in the series. It's got nothing on later games but it was a good time waster at uni. Final Fantasy III DS (20%) - I played a bit of this on the train a few times, then I stopped having to use the train. Seemed good but where I was up to there was a definite feel of pointlessness. Final Fantasy VII (70%) - Oh no, gonna die. I didn't quite get the attraction of this game. Maybe because I'm playing it through on the PS2 and the emulation isn't quite right or something. Got close to the end then left it for so long. Started it up again, got bored. Final Fantasy VIII (3%) - I was actually digging this then the game keeps freezing early on, need to buy another copy. Final Fantasy IX (3%) - This seems charming, I actually got pretty far in it once but I restarted because I had forgotten everything. Final Fantasy XII (99.9999999%) - I really enjoyed this, there could have been more character development but I thought the game itself was quite good. Did everything except beat the final form of the boss. Baten Kaitos (50%) - Got a substantial way into the game then someone borrowed it, only recently got it back. Baten kaitos Origins (10%) Got this right the big hits of last year hit, I was enjoying it but then Bioshock arrived. La Pucelle Tactics (99%) - Anyone who reads any of my posts will know I love this game, i've done everything except beat the final boss and the really obscure stuff. Disgaea (40%) - Got far in the PS2 version but not so far in the PSP. Like it though not as much as LPT. Disgaea 2 (finished) - Finished the game, loved it but the story wasn't as great/funny as the other games in the series. Makai Kingdom (Finished) - Good... Phantom Brave (50%) - While i'm now used to the summoning system I don't have the fortitude to finish this. Is not bad... but not great either. Soul Nomad (20%?) - I gave this a good go but I think I should really restart, I don't like it as much as the other games mainly because the game feels empty. Golden Sun (60%) I thought this was good but not as good as Camelots other games. Combat gets repetitive. Golden Sun 2 (0%) Still in the box. Dragoneer's Aria (1%) Started this up and did the prologue, seemed crap. Wild Arms 3 (10%) I've started and then turned off this game about eight times... doesn't grab me. Wild Arms 4 (10%) Main character is the most annoying person ever. Dark Chronicle (90%) I've gotten near the end twice then I just stop playing. Rogue Galaxy (70%) I'm near the end but the encounters have gone through the roof. Is a very charming game otherwise, I'll finish it after I've had a break. .Hack series - Couldn't get into it. Arc the Lad TOTS - A lot of people praise this but I couldn't get into it. Star Ocean 3 (90%)- Gotten to the last dungeon twice, I like the battle system though I wish there were more sci fi and less amena in this. Shadow Hearts: Covenant (Finished) - Loved this game to death, especially how half way through the game you think that you are about to finish then a whole new game seems to open up. Tales of the Abyss (50%) - Got to the point where the protagonist swaps (trying not to give out spoilers) seemed good but not as good as symphonia. Save file corrupted so I have to restart. Tales of Legendia (40%) - Slow start then it picked up a bit but now it is getting a bit repetitive. Tales of Phantasia (10%) - Haven't put too much time into this one. Tales of Destiny (0%) - It's around somewhere Tales of Eternia (Finished) - Really liked this one, played the PSP version. Awesome card game. Shining Force 1 (finished)- Loved this game. Shining force 2 (finished)- '' '' Shining Force 3 (90%)- Didn't dig this as much as the others, had a much slower pace. Shining the Holy ark (0%) - I played a bit of this and it seemed excellent though I've heard it's epic so I haven't put the time in yet. Morrowind (finished... as much as I can) - Took over my life a few years back. Oblivion (ditto) - Took over my life last year. Dragon Quest VIII (99.9%) - Did everything except the final boss ( I have a nasty habit of doing this). Loved it. DQ VII (10%) - Played it for a little, seemed charming but then I read a lot of bad reviews so I kind of stopped. DQM: J (10%) - Up to the third Isle, it feels like a portable game so i'm saving it for uni. FFXII RW (4%) - Seemed ok, not my thing though. Sword of Mana (3%) - Have had this for ages, not my thing. Kingdom Hearts I (finished) - Loved it. Kingdom Hearts II (finished) - Loved it even more. Suikoden V (50%-) - Playing this right now, while it has the slowest start in the history of gaming, when you get up to the recruiting part it picks up a lot. I'm surprised how detailed it is. Valkyrie Profile Lenneth (10%) I played a little of this and was enjoying it but then a time limit kicked in and it turned me off. I read somewhere that you are given more than enough time so I should probably go back. VP2: S (5%): Played this for a bit then got distracted. Grimgrimoire (1%) RTS aren't my thing... seems good though. Odin Sphere (10%) Looks good but sooooooooooooooo repetitive. Digital Devil Saga(60%): Stuck on one of the puzzles, despite the high encounter rate it is a great game. DDS2 (unopened) SMT: Nocturne/Lucifer's Call (finished): So hard, so good. SMT: Devil Summoner: Played this for a bit, seems flawed but interesting enough. Atelier Iris (finished): While I wasn't super impressed by this I did finish it. Atelier Iris 2 (2%): I'm really turned off of this game for some reason, doesn't gel well with me. Paper Mario 2 (99): Again, at the last boss. Super Paper Mario (50%): THe new style wasn't for me especially as my friends kept talking about how awesome it was. Breath of Fire 3 (20%): Played this heaps (PSP) then my memory stick needed reformating :( Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (?) - I tried several times to get into this but I found myself reaching for the off button all the time. FFTA (90%)- I practically did everything in this, really enjoyed it. FFT (4%)- Stuck at the start. Jeanne D'arc (finished) - loved it. There are more but I'm tired. I've covered most of them. I'm torn whether to try this new place and get Suikoden & Grandia or to pick up Castlevania PSP, Contra DS & PW3 instead from the place I usually get stuff. I'm also interested in the SAGA series, picking up some racers and others.

Have you ever tried Xenogears for the PS1 or Xenosaga for the PS2?
FFVI on the GBA is the best version of FF's best game (I stand by that call)
I really liked Breath of Fire IV, but that might be just me.
Dark Cloud 2's battle's can get repetitive, but the inventing and leveling mechanics (not to mention town building) kept me hooked.
A few more random one's I still come back and play: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the 7 Stars (Still either SNES or ROM though)
Brave Story (PSP): An incredibly well polished traditional RPG, just don't expect something radically different.
Gurumin (PSP): More Zelda-clone than FF-clone, but an all around great game
GBA or PSP, try Yggdra Union and Riviera: The Promised Land. The GBA ones would be worth bagging as very few in europe imported them. The PSP cuts have videos and extras though.
Disgaea PSP too. Magna Carta on PSP if you can find in on import.
On the other hand I could not finish Estella Deus (boooring) and Phantom Brave (diiiifficult) neither. Phantom Brave case hurts me a lot because I really like the game, but it turns insanely difficult.
Anyway, my advice for you is "Saiyuki" a very good and underrated SRPG for the PSone. I loved this game.
Excuse me for all the grammar mistakes... you know I'm not really good with english.
Plus, I can't believe you are so close to completing FF II, Dark Chronicle and Dragon Quest VIII. The bosses are all possible to defeat, and I've only just completed FF II. Ask me for advice if you need these guys beaten.
Izuna is a hard as nails dungeon crawler that has a great and insane story behind it.
FFVI is the best FF game and is a must-have. It can be found for $20 or less at Toys R Us and Circuit City.
The original Breath of Fire was a blast.
Ogre Battle 64 was fantastic and Tactics Ogre for the GBA was a great SRPG.
