This game series even defeats Shenmue in the competition for the title of most games planned at the outset. This game series is one of two (that I know of) Japanese developed RPG series that is set in space. TWO! You'd think, considering the medium, that there would be a lot more but whatever.
The amount of games that have been planned to be in this series is actually insane. Unlike most other game series on this list I haven't really played much of this series. 1? Xenogears -Ps1
While this game isn't officially apart of the Xenosaga series, Xenosaga is a spiritual sequel to Xenogears. While Xenogears was developed by Square and Saga by Namco, the team who worked on both games were the same people. Hardcore RPGers say that this game is the game everyone should have been playing instead of FFVII. Whatever, I haven't played it. XENOSAGA: Xenosaga was originally planned to be an epic series with over six titles spanning multiple generations, this is what we got. The series is about humans and androids, stuff exploding and my balls. The game features a record amount of panty shots and lots of women in bikini like clothing. 2. Xenosaga Ep 1: Der Wille Zur Macht. PS2
You know that any game with a reference to Nietzsche in the title is going to be complex and depressingly philosophical... which supposedly it was. This was the first (along with La Pucelle) PS2 game I ever imported and the only one not to work with my Swap Disc procedure. I've gone to great lengths to get this to work, supposedly you can split the DVD into three cds and get it working though that didn't end up working. I'll have to get a US PS3 so I can play this as it is meant to be the best in the series. Obviously it was never released in PAL regions. 3. Xenosaga Ep 2:Jenseits von Gut und Böse. PS2
Read that title closely, this isn't a sequel to the first game it is part/episode 2. That means the game pretty much picks up midway through the storyline of the whole saga. So what do they do? They release this game over here without the game that preceeded it. To fill in the players is included a three hour movie of parts of the first game being played by someone else. Presumably someone was paid to put this together. If the game was already made why don't you just include that with the package but noooooooo! Image if we only got Empire strikes back, it would be weird right? Anyway, this , at the moment , is the only Xenosaga game I own. It makes no sense but after reading what happened in the first game (couldn't be bothered watching the vid) I get it, so i'm going to give it another shot tonight . Because at this point in development everyone thought there was going to be six titles this game follows the story of one of the minor characters which supposedly made fitting the rest of the storyline into the last game quite a feat. Ep II, while good, is reportedly the worst in the series. 4.Xenosaga Ep 3: Also Sprach Zarathustra.
What turned out to be the final chapter in the series (due to budget problems) was Ep 3. This is currently en route to my house and is meant to be nearly as good as the first game. The other games: Xenosaga DS: This game retells the first two games in portable form. The second episode has been completely rewritten so as to fill in all the gaps that were left unanswered in the series. Unfortunately, even though it got rave reviews it was never released outside Japan. Considering that it was released there over two years ago, I doubt we will see it. Xenosaga: Pied Piper: A mobile phone game that is the prequel to the main series, again only in Japan. There was also a Xenosaga anime, a Xenosaga magazine and a web series. The fourth game, which was developed at the same time as the third is reportedly 80% complete but then Namco pulled the plug so a different ending was rewritten into X3. From what i've seen it is a pretty cool series. Namco have said that further games are not in development but are not out of the question as the series is super popular in Japan. That Namco X Capcom SRPG I got featured a lot of characters from the series so hopefully the PS3 will see some Xenolove.

The concept is great...execution, not so much. Your writing is great though.
I've finally heard something funny today.
I hear alot of people say Ep.II was good but just too damn short. Whereas III was best because it mixed both goods of Ep.I and II. Ep.I just had waaaaaaay too many cutscenes and less action. still good though.
you should add that xenosaga card game too. Seeing that was like...Japanese only with Xenosaga DS. This is a great series though.
