Hey guys. If you don't feel like reading, then don't. :)
1. I got
Persona 4 a few days after it came out. I've been taking my time with the game, but after almost 3 months of pretty much that game exclusively, I'm almost done! This really is a big achievement for me, as I hardly EVER finish a long RPG. I think this is actually going to be my first RPG ever that I beat (well, besides
Kingdom Hearts II), I'm pretty excited. I'm 106 hours into the game, but my actual play time is probably about 15 or 20 hours less, due to the fact that I keep my laptop open beside me while I play games.
I think it is safe to say that this is one of my favourite games in recent years. Like I said before, I hardly ever finish my games, especially RPGs, but something about
P4 really has me hooked. Actually the reason I decided to give the game a shot was because of
Dale North's 10/10 review. The Dtoid reviewers are very sparse with giving out high scores, so I knew I had to give this game justice and try it out. If anyone hasn't played it yet, and you can stand a long game with turn based battles, I HIGHLY suggest getting this game. You will not be disappointed.
2. In regards to the
"10 things about me" posts, I simply love them. I might sound like a broken record repeating what everyone else is saying about them, but I don't care. It's my late night blog, and I'll talk about what I want.
I really learned a lot about other members of the Dtoid army. I tried to read every one of them, and I did leave comments on many of the ones posted last weekend. I came out and said some things in
my "10 things" post that I probably wouldn't have said if this whole shenanigan wouldn't have been started by a fellow recapper, SilverDragon. So kudos to you friend, you really made something awesome happen here. :)
3. I really hate my freaking job. I work as a waiter in a small town cafe. I mean I REALLY hate it. Every Sunday I have to work upwards of 10 hours. And the bitchiness of the cooks is really the worst. We have 2 full time cooks on duty, one is a morbidly obese 50-something who wears too make up and gossips even more. The other cook is a morbidly obese 40 year old who still lives with her parents and is always happy with all the customers and other co-workers except for me.
There is an electronics store (kind of) near me with a great selection of games that just had a massive water leak. Much of their stock was ruined, and they are having a hell of a time cleaning up. I could imagine that they are going to be low on staff, maybe I will apply there. It would sure as hell be a lot more fun than where I work right now.
4. I buy way too many games. I buy so many of them, that I don't have time to play them all. Just some of the games I have bought lately are
Lost Odyssey,
Persona 3: FES,
Katamari Damaci,
God of War II,
Valkyria Chronicles, and multiple DS games. Between full time school, and working, I wonder if I'll ever be able to finish them all? I really love buying games, and I probably wont' stop buying them, because it makes me happy :)
5. As some of you may know, I'm on a podcast called
TheCollegeGamer. It really is the highlight of my week. I get together with some really awesome guys (James, Armando, Pendelton21, and Xavier), and we just bullshit about games that we love. They really are some of the coolest people ever. It really is the highlight of my week.
This weeks episode was
supposed to be on
Banjo Kazooie, I spent the almost $20 (jacked prices in Canadia) for the game, and have been playing a lot of it this week. But when I came home from work and boot up Skype, I am informed that we aren't doing a
BK episode anymore. I played that game pretty much exclusively the whole week to prepare for this episode, I even had a list made up of stuff I wanted to talk about. Oh well, this episode was really fucking great. I had tonnes of fun recording it anyway :) <3
FIN
Persona 4 is an amazing game. All the SMT games I've played have been really good so far. You really should try to get to Persona 3, too. It's amazing.
ps, you do the best Southern drawl I've ever heard from a Canadian.
Rock on you crazy diamond.
@Pendelton: You have the best laugh ever :) Can't wait for the Persona episode :) (if it ever happens that is!) You guys are awesome Can't wait till PAX. Going to be a freaking blast.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
You spelled "Destructoid" in your banner as "Detructoid"?!
Accident or what?!
That's all...
Also, I agree with Pendelton, the double-whammy is strangely comforting.
Also, I was a cook once in a small cafe' and that shit is not fun. Waitressing probably isn't any better.
Technically, Gary's profession is "waitering", unless there's something "he" isn't telling us.
GRRRRRRR, GRAMMAR!
"Waitressing"? :'(
