Custom 360 Faceplate: The Eggman
free touch | 9:57 PM on 12.02.2008 16 comments

Hi all. Here is the newest custom plate that I have done. It was created for none other than The Incredible Edible Egg of Destructoid!

A little about the plate.

It has a blue to black gradient in the background, highlighted with metal flakes. On top of that, a black outline brick pattern. The white border on the tag itself is glow in the dark. Everything is coated in a clear matte coat, which shows detail more, and brush strokes less.

And to finish it up, I added glossy highlights to Roboy and Robotniks ship. Roboy himself is a custom color paint, created specifically for him, and I won't use it again.

Also! I've been working on some new projects, like usual, and I will post them up as soon as possible! If anyone wants to contact me about any work (I since been doing more custom figures as well) let me know, and I'm sure we could make it pringles.

Custom Halo 3 Pink Master Chief. + Cave Story?
free touch | 8:13 PM on 11.18.2008 8 comments

Before I get started, yes, I totally bit this picture template from Jin Saotome. I figure it works, it looks good, so I ran with it. In the future, I probably won't use this set up, but for now, it'll do.

After finishing him (her) all up, and after taking some pics, it is done, and nows sits on my wives desk at work, holding pikachu for ransom... no one has paid.

3 coats of Pink Satin (krylon) 2 coats of Crystal Clear Gloss, and all the touch ups and greys redone when needed with Model Master Gun Metal. The gun is custom as well.

A new faceplate is in the works, as well as a special d-toid figure, and another custom halo figure. The faceplate has taken a looooong time, but its turning out fantastic. I can't wait for you all to see it.

Here also is something else I got done recently. I usb flash drive In a GBA cart. It's only a 128mb drive, but the bonus is, I put everything anyone would ever need for cave story on the drive, including the Mega Pack (faqs, full translation, bonus mini games) and the complete soundtrack. I have made 2 of these, and I will be putting them up for sale soon. I do realize you can get everything for cave story for free, but you would be buying the custom stuff that it is incased in.

Also the sticker is 100% original, created by me.

Thanks again!

My Gameboy Color Cart Flash Drive Mod.
free touch | 2:01 PM on 10.17.2008 11 comments

huh?

Sup everyone!

Just a quick blog about a custom thing I did.

this started out as a Madden 2002 game. Took it apart, and I had my 1gb flash drive sitting around. Sorry for no in progress pics, but the next one I do, I'll do a full pictorial tutorial.

The entire thing is relatively easy. and only takes some patience and a few tools.

I was going to go for an Orginal GB case, or even a GBA case, but with the clear color ones, you can see the light still working.

OOOOOOHH!

Custom sticker as well.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!

Custom 360 Faceplate: Earthbound!
free touch | 7:54 PM on 10.07.2008 18 comments

Hey all!

Here's the latest faceplate I have done. It seems with each one, i test myself more and more, and hopefully everyone will like it.

a lot of custom paint colors when into this, and I tried to combine some modern looking fun with some 8bit/16bit goodness. Everything is finished in Matte Crystal Clear, and the characters and the logo are glossed over to shine over the rest.

And here's a bonus thing... I had a hulk 2099 figure, and I whipped up some custom paint, and went to town. So here ya go Red Hulk 2099. I think I might put him up on ebay, i'm not sure yet.. but if I do, I will pimp it here.

Thanks!

There Will Be Brawl!!!
free touch | 11:42 PM on 09.23.2008 3 comments

Heya all, just a quick update and some cool shit.

1: There will be Brawl

BRAWL - Episode 1 : Twilight Ruin from There Will Be BRAWL on Vimeo.

A new online tv show, turning the land of the Mushroom Kingdom into a gritty, awesome crime drama. This thing has a lot of fan service in it, the voices are pretty good, and the costumes look great. Check it out the site for two more vids and all the other hoopla that comes with it.

2: For a looong time now, I've been working on a faceplate that is something I've never really done before in paint. It's been eating up a lot of my time, and hopefully my hours will show, and you all will dig it. I'm putting it all together, and it should be done within the next two weeks... even though I told the guy I was doing it for, that it would take 2 weeks. This one has a lot of clean angles, and sharp turns. it mixes some new and some old, but I'd like to think its something Mother would be proud of.

After this faceplate, I think I may kick back, and dip my head into some more custom toys and vinyl stuff, but who knows? Maybe do a few more Halo skulls or destructoid figures. I did mention a while back that I was going to hold a contest for a "pick a character you want to see taken over buy Mr. Destructoid." And there is this Grimlock Custom I've been wanting to do since I've seen the original toy.

Then again, I have recently been picking up speed on my drawing stuff, so I might go ahead and get back into creating my comic(s). These here cards I did for a company... haven't heard back yet, but last time I applied, they sent me a "no thanks" letter ( I was to close to the deadline)... so who knows? Here they are!

Keep it crackalackin'

Chris

My Set-up Part II - Also, my fleamarket haul!
free touch | 3:57 PM on 08.09.2008 11 comments

HI EVERYBODY.

Alrighty, I said I was going to do this before, and now is the time. I finally cleaned my office. And instead of filling up the clogs with more than enough topics, I'll just put these two together. Respekt Knuckles Coon!

This is the place I get all my art done. All the figures and faceplates and comic art gets done in this, the central headquarters of the Kozak Galactic Palace.

As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by my spider man light switches

and by an original Transformers the Movie Poster. (they gave it out at the movie, the other side has My Little Pony on it.)

Turn the corner and you'll see my bookshelf, filled with Trade Paperbacks and reference books
along with a Bryan Hitch signed Ultimate Avengers poster, a working CD-i, Sega Genesis w/ Sega CD, and a Magnavox Odyssey 2. And other collectibles and junk.

In that mess, you will see the biggest Transformer I have ever bought: Primus. I got him at the Red White and Blue thrift store for $4.

Open up the closet, and what do you see? well besides boxes, and art supplies, you see 15 boxes of comic books. 10 Long boxes and 5 short. Yes, its that bad.

Turn a 180, and you'll see my drawing table. Nothing fancy, but everything else around it sets the mood. Michael Jackson's Thriller, for $2 at the same thrift store.

Now, onto the computer section. That is actually where all the magic happens, I scuplt there, draw there somtimes, paint there, and bullshit there.

Here's a few close ups of the toys and shit I have up there. I love Transformers, I always have, and the new animated versions are just so awesome. The Eva02 is signed by the american voice actress for Asuka. That N64 I bought at a garage sale, complete in box, with the twist ties still on it, for $35.

Here's some more toys. I got the virtual boy at the same thrift store for $15. I cannot get it to work, and I've tried everything. It came with two games as well.

And that's it! If you have any questions, let me know, i'll be sure to answer. Also, at the bottom, are the original size files, so you can get some high def pics of my stuff. (not that you'd want to, just incase you think your eyes are deceiving you.)

NOW, on to my fleamarket hauls this (and last) week.

First up is the main group of stuff. I got those 5 DS games at a flea market for $20 total!
Gunpey is sweet, as is Transformers Decepticons. I got the Super Gameboy and those 3 games for $10 at the same place. I got Kirby's Airride and TOZ: Windwaker for $4 total.

Now, for what I got today... Lookit! a Pirate Gameboy Color game called 68 in 1 Color.

I got that puppy for $1. The games are actually all really good. Pokemon, Super Mario Land, etc. I will actually write a review for this in the next week, with a list of all 68 games they managed to cram into this tiny black box.

Thanks all for looking!
