two reasons why there's still hope for Nintendo
eternalplayer2345 | 12:52 PM on 07.15.2008 28 comments

Nintendo's press conference just closed, Nintendo fans are pissed, betrayed and a little upset. But do they have reason to be? Let's look at some reason that nintendo hasn't betrayed there core audiences.

Hardcore games weren't shown but they have them

How is this a reason? It's the very reason we are mad! WHERE THE HELL IS THE HARDCORE GAMEZ!!!1! Listen nintendo had a opportunity to show off some of the core games we know are out there. Captain Rainbow, Warioland, fire emblem and kirby superstar ds could have been shown off. Wario and Kirby are due out in two short months. Nintendo is showing that it doesn't need to show these hardcore titles in their presser instead they focused on the casual games for the press.

Nintendo's press conference don't always show off their big games

E3 06 two short years ago we wanted to heard everything about nintendo new game console. One probably remembers E3 06 as the place were brawl was first shown. But what few recall is that brawl wasn't in their press conference that year it was shown in video form tucked away in their booth that year. If Two years ago when nintendo had yet to prove this new nongames market and still but brawl off to the side, why would this change when people can't get enough of the wii plays and wii fit.

"Captain Rainbow,"

Dude GTFO NOW with that bullshit!!

"Captain Rainbow, Warioland, fire emblem and kirby superstar ds"

These games arn't even considered hardcore anymore. They dumb down these games for the casual group. And compared to Fable 2, LBP & Fallout3 these games are a joke.

wario shake looks pretty fun, i wonder if its playable.
eternalplayer2345's Destructoid Blog
Then what games are hardcore for nintendo? Just zelda and metroid we already have those.
wepmajoe's Destructoid Blog
How can you possibly consider any of those games hardcore? Kirby Superstar is a simple side-scroller, albeit a great simple side-scroller. It definitely isn't hardcore, though. Same thing with Warioland. Fire Emblem is the only one that can be considered hardcore.

Hardcore to me is a game that requires skill and brains and can't just be picked up and played.

Captain Rainbow hardcore? Kirby SS=Oh boy more remakes

Eternal

I didn't see any at E3. Fire Emblem would be the closest and Fatal Frame. Sorry dude

Fatal frame and mad world are good example there more games nintendo neglected to mention in there conference. I'm betting wednesday and thursday could be bigger than today.
BlindsideDork's Destructoid Blog
This person speaks truth...plus a lot of the "hardcore" games aren't 1st part.

Fatal Frame IV
Madworld
Kid Icarus (Factor 5, not Nintendo)
Sadness

..haha, I had to!
Hoodie's Destructoid Blog
I'm so sick of hearing the word "hardcore", like sitting on your couch playing games makes you tough. And most of these HD "hardcore" games are easy enough for anybody to beat if they just play long enough.

Apparently Iwata said they're working on a new Mario and Zelda for Wii. It's just too bad they haven't shown it to us yet.
BlindsideDork's Destructoid Blog
Don't expect Mario and Zelda anytime soon (2010)
007's Destructoid Blog
You're kidding, right? I mean, we could see more stuff tomorrow, but... Your idea of hardcore is waaaay wrong.
Hoodie's Destructoid Blog
I think everyone knows that Eternalplayer is basically talking about non-casual games and AAA franchise titles. Nobody bought a Wii to play Fallout 3.
Cyberxion's Destructoid Blog
I wouldn't say that his idea is wrong, but that he's being overly optomistic. I would be amazed if Nintendo brought something to the show in the next few days that was worth half a shit.

God I'm fucking bitter. Though after that conference, can you blame me?
killias2's Destructoid Blog
"I think everyone knows that Eternalplayer is basically talking about non-casual games and AAA franchise titles. Nobody bought a Wii to play Fallout 3.'

This.

I'm not looking for games that arbitrarily get the hardcore rating. I'm looking for games that will be GOOD and FUN. Christ, that's all I ask for.
Cyberxion's Destructoid Blog
I agree with you on that point. That's why I'm not at all juiced about another Animal Crossing game, or any of the rest of the stuff they showed off. It might be fun, but I'm burnt out on Animal Crossing, and I can't think of any reason why I'd buy any of the other stuff.
falinter's Destructoid Blog
Accept your Animal Crossing overlords and stop bitchin for moar blood.
Spitfire's Destructoid Blog
A few "hardcore" games in the pipe:
Call of Duty 5
Quantum of Solace: The Game
Spider-ManĀ®: Web of Shadows
Wario Shake

Wario Shake is flatout a hardcore 2D platformer, no doubt.

@Falinter:
Totally, people log some crazy hrs in Animal Crossing that would make "hardcore" gamers for other console blush.
Hoodie's Destructoid Blog
I can't help but feel that Animal Crossing belongs on the DS. I just can't see myself sitting in front of the TV playing it. My favorite announcement (so far) has been Motion Plus. It probably would've had more impact if they'd held the announcement for the presser instead of trying to upstage Microsoft, who apparently didn't even show their waggle.

It makes sense that Nintendo would use this event to address the mainstream audience. I expect a few cool surprises over the next few days, if not a new Mario or Zelda.
EternalDeathSlayer's Destructoid Blog
There wasn't even a Kid Icarus. WTF? This sucks.
Cowboy TTop's Destructoid Blog
There's an interesting thing going on here that many of us are missing, and that is that Nintendo need some new IP to match up to todays standards of games. Their good platformers etc are fine, but they seem to fail in areas like creating new IP, in the vein of Starfox, Metroid etc.

If Nintendo could fix this, things would get better, but they are failing miserably. Animal Crossing is indeed fine but not enough to tempt me. This again is a sign of Nintendo not listening to what we want, and I really hope they feel the backlash from this E3. What they are doing is nowhere near enough gamewise (IMO).

More time with my PS2 and 360 then.
notdryad's Destructoid Blog
Way to have a terrible conference, Nintendo.
Zen Albatross's Destructoid Blog
Nintendo doesn't need to make HARDCORE GAMES, they just need to make games for GAMERS... Which obviously does not interest them anymore, as is evident by today's keynote.

I really just want Pikmin 3. Please Nintendo PLEASE?!
Kyousuke Nanbu's Destructoid Blog
Nice to see the Nintendo defenders doing damage control, why aren't you playing your Wii guys?

Oh right, CAUSE THERE'S NOTHING ON IT HAHAHAAHAHAHA.

Retards.

Nintendo's a E3 was a fucking joke and they continue to give one giant middle finger the people that kept them afloat till the Wii came along, nice one Nintendo.

Kirby Superstar DS, that's it, only interesting about Nintendo's event, everything else was shit, par for the course for Nintendo lately, I'm thinking that a buying a Wii was a mistake since it seems I won't get anything decent for it for a fucking year.

Also, no mother 3 for america, no Ouendan 3/EBA2.

Nintendo, FUCK YOU.
PhazonYoshi's Destructoid Blog
I was hoping for a new Metroid.

They gave me motherfucking animal crossing and WiiSports 2
