Guys the videos are long. About 8 minutes a piece. But Jesus, you cannot honestly tell me that they aren't worth it. Watch it, its awesome. Also, this is the PS2 version, and the Xbox 360 version is much better, I guarantee it.
The only reason that I am actually posting this gameplay footage is because this level is based all around gaming, as in it spoofs a shitload of games. Try to see all the references, including Donkey Kong, Mario (not only the warp pipes), Sonic, Madden, Mortal Kombat, Zelda, Megaman, and Street Fighter. Its pretty lulzy stuff. If you want to see all of the levels (although I don't know why...) then here you go.
Enjoy!
Also below, I've embedded the In Search of An Author level, as its the level where you fight The Simpsons creator, Matt Groening, alone with Bender & Zoidberg from Futurama. Yes! I'd embed the "Shadow of the Colossal Donut" and "Bartman Begins" level based of reference alone, but there's so much stuff there, I can't embed it all. I love this game. Any Groening or Simpsons fan needs to pick this up, definately. And relax, its classic-Simpsons good.
I rented this game a few days ago and it surpassed all my expectations. They really did a good job on it.
The parts where the game recreates classic arcade games are hilarious, too. Joust, Missle Command, Gauntlet, and Frogger all make appearances as minigames.
The Super Happy Fun Fun level is also filled with some good video game (and a few anime) jokes. There are statues of Santa's Little Helper with markings similar to Ameratsu from Okami, complete with the big disc on his back. He's also holding a keyblade in his mouth.
Oh, but the best part is the Pokemon battles at the end of each section of that level. They're turn based and everything. XD
I've put around 12 hours into it and almost have every achievement (Just need to beat the level target times). I'm going to miss this game when I take it back.
I really like this game. Got the Wii version and had a lot of fun with it. The ending is awesome (though a bit abrupt in my opinion, but I don't want to spoil anything). I don't regret buying it.
I don't know if this is also in the English version but in the German one if you listen to Sonic's phrases, he sometimes says (loosely translated) "I don't know anymore why I'm hating that Eggman guy..."
@ tsunamikitsune: Are the Pokémon-like battle at the end of the Super Happy Fun Fun Game level sections playable in the 360 version?
Hm, I think I need to get this game. I really wish it was just another crappy licensed game so I could write it off. I guess I'll be adding this to my Christmas wishlist.
Yeah, I heard that the Wii and PS2 versions were kind of lacking compared to the 360 version (and the PS3 version, I imagine). The Pokemon battles are playable in the 360 version.
I also heard that there was no Springfield in the Wii/PS2 versions. Is that true? There should be like, an overworld kinda place that you can wander around in.
In the Wii version (and thus also in the PS2 version, I suppose), you can only explore the Simpsons' house, their backyard and the area where you select the video game worlds to get the keycards. So there is an "overworld" but it's not that big.
