I think I can sum it up with three responses.
a) My Digg response to controversy: Wait, wait, wait. You've got to be shitting me. You're taking time out of what I will assume (benefit of the doubt) is an otherwise busy life, to get people to petition a website from Digg? Do you not realize that by petitioning against the site, you're also giving us a bunch of traffic? There's one thing you don't understand about Destructoid. They don't write articles for you. They write it for their readers that are tired of going to Joystiq to read boring analyst articles with not even a shred of humor in it. They do it for the people who want more from a gaming website than a humorous article on Kotaku with occasional comments. Sometimes people want to be part of a community, and Destructoid has it. I have been reading Destructoid since last September, and I have never once regret it. I don't understand why people hate it either, because you practically refuse to say why, other than people enjoy stories and putting them on Digg. As if we're the only site that does so. Its comments like this that give people who want to petition against the site such low morality and commenting integrity- "Destructoid is a shitty site with shitty articles. I know I'll get dugg down by the dtard crew for this. I don't care. Your site sucks, period, the end." You just totally attempted to close the article without citing a reason that Destructoid sucks. I, however, can cite many reasons that you're wrong, and that people and companies outside of Destructoid agree that the site is amazing, and has amazing journalism. 1. Frunkus- you just listed 31 people who have dugg Dtoid stories. Only 13 are actual editors. Most of which, do not digg their own stories. That means at least 18 people that Digg stories on Destructoid are just fans, readers, or other people who saw an interesting article. I also guarantee there's more that you didn't find/ 2. Have you ever noticed that Destructoid has/has had a SHITLOAD of writers? What writer in their right mind takes a job form a position for a website that they don't think is great? Thats like anyone on the internet working as Jackie T.'s personal assistant. 3. Kevin Rose, Niero, and Ron Workman are all pretty good friends. I do recall them all drinking together at South By SouthWest (SXSW). So if the founder of Digg, which has become a $1 billion+ site, enjoys the company of the 2 biggest people from Destructoid, doesn't that speak volumes? 4. We have an emailer. Its full of at least 76 people, all of which are strong supporters of Dtoid (even though about only 20 of them are Dtoid staff). 5. Not a very well kept secret, but the Destructoid Army is going to be fuck-huge. As in, a force to be reckoned with. 6. http://www.sitemeter.com/?a=stats&s=s23destructoid 7. http://www.destructoid.com/aots-says-to-stick-with-dtoid-for-e3-coverage-34786.phtml 8. Even if you hate Nintendo, you must admit, they're successful, and their conference from E3 was watched by thousands. They also flashed Destructoid longer than any other site, along with Robert "Former Destructoid Writer" Summa. 9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT30Iwp2wNM; Give me one other site that did that. No. Really. 10. They can party. Because they don't take everything so seriously. They're not Joystiq. They know people will enjoy news more if they decide to make it entertaining, humorous, or more relative. Kotaku does the same, but not with everything, and as said before, they've got no community. Nothing to keep them there, besides the stories. And where's the fun in that? 11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvpPjo74xqU 12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qho1XI0Fat8 13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPzvkfUZtwc 14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShuLpvAJq_0 15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpAxOdOfLfw 16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCufO3Ca7fY (no relevance, just for lolz.) 17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMdbvgScMpw 18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oIMWbssgLk&mode=related&search= 19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P55HDwQiPoY 20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbE_As6pb48 21. They're independant, so no shameless plugs, or selling out the website. Yeah, you'll mark it down as spam, but its not. its a shitload of FAN CREATED videos. All of them took time. As in people took time to make these videos. Destructoid FTW, and no matter whatever fucking grudge you hold against us, its successful for a reason. And thats because its one of the greatest. sites. ever. b) Space Jam. But lets be honest. The real answer? My blackness prohibits me from answering that question. Thank you, Ron.
