Don't ask about the iToid next to the CD.
I'm pissed.
And why am I pissed? Because it seems that lately, music, and everything related to music by name has gone to shit. When people point out that I'm nothing short of black, and everything short of asian, one of the first things I point out is that I believe that rap music is complete and utter shit. What I neglect to mention though, is that it wasn't always like that. Back in the days when the Sugarhill Gang was mid-fame and I was not yet even a fetus, music was great, and didn't leave a lingering feeling of dissapointment in my ear, wanting me to replace said disappointment with gunpowder.
I'm not going anywhere with this Nexican analogy (I pick on Nex because someone has to.)so I'll delve straight into the topic of the second day the music died, the first being the plane crash of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and that other guy that's not on one of my parents vinyl records. Sidenote: I'm literally sitting next to a 45 rpm vinyl record of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up. I plan to play it tomorrow in the middle of the intense, but quiet parts of horror movies at the dollar theatre.
MTV This is my number one gripe with music. M.T.V. Music. Tele. Vision. And I know I'm not the only one to think this, but motherfucking Disney Channel has more to do with music than MTV does, and thats not a joke. The only time MTV showcases music is in the late nights/early mornings when the target audience is either a) asleep, b) out doing drugs or c) asleep, passed out from doing drugs. Please, for gods sake, change your name, to something that preferably tells everyone that you don't give a shit about music, you just show episodes of Real World spin offs with different names, and give numerous TV shows to Flava Flav, the one black person I absolutely hate the most.
And holy shit, one of the most annoying terms people use is 'MTV generation." Why the fuck am I going to have to live through a generation associated with one of the worst concepts and stations ever to grace my fucking mind? Gaming is making enough of an uprising that we could be the gamer generation, but no, thanks to shitty rap music and Stacey motherfucking Ferguson deciding that spelling words out in song is arousing, I now have to live with terminology that I am definately going to regret hearing in the future.
Radio Of course, radio music is the epitome of the mainstream, but unlike the emo underbelly of society, thats not why I hate it. I don't hate it because everyone likes it, but I'm not afraid to say fuck everyone else. The reason I do hate the radio is because they don't play good music. Its all shit. And people know this. There's a subconscious voice in the back of everyone's head saying "This sucks." but unfortunately, there's a conscious voice right in the front of everyone's mind thats saying "Shut the fuck up, this music is popular, you've got to like it." There's no chance that its just a coincidence that music on iTunes happens to correlate to radio top ten lists.
Now lets be honest: Not all radio music is bad. Hell, I'd have to say that when I mention radio, I specifically mean stations like KISS FM, that have decided that instead of playing music like a regular station, they'll steal the top ten iTunes list and play those songs on the air. I'm not going to knock every radio station there is just because of a few shitty ones.
Games Nothing here, I'm just waiting for someone to publish Metronome, and I'm pissed that no one's picked it up. HOW DOES THE CONCEPT NOT SOUND TOTALLY AMAZING?
I definately have many things to rant about, and in the coming week or so you'll see rants about black people, popular words, Mexico, and other things that make me wanna shoot kittens. And by shoot kittens, I mean get mad. What the fuck do kittens have to do with anything?
The only time I give a damn about contemporary rap music is when I am at a party or club and I am dancing. Besides that they stopped making rap and hip hop along time ago in my mind.
Also. Flava Flav is my least favorite black person, he has set us back a few years. Him and those damn black zombies. Also why is Flav even relevant!!!??? He was a fucking hype man!!! He didnt rap at all!!!
It makes less sense than waiting in line for the iphone(that joke is three weeks too old).
@lemon yeah Im black. Ill pack my bags. Damn this Internet Jim Crow! Somewhere in alabama George Wallace is smilling, or decomposing, since he is dead.
Yeah that is pretty fucked up. Also what kind of monkeys are those? Most people making racist statements use chimps. Clearly you are a rookie to this whole racism/offending people thing.
I do like satellite radio (Sirius ftw!) cause they have good stations like Octane and Faction, plus others. But other than that I'm 100% in agree-ance. Rappers like NWA and others were good. Now all rap is "Buy you a drank" and "I wanna do you." Not good. Rock is getting bad too :\
I like classical and classic rock. Pretty much everything new feels like aural rape. Well, maybe not everything, but enough of a majority that I keep my distance.
What happened in the last ten years? I remember thinking that music in the 90's was bad, but there were still a few songs I liked hearing, and listening to the radio wasn't outright offensive. Now rock, hip hop, rap, country, everything seems terrible.
Dude i totally agree with the MTV thing, ive been saying it for years. Pisses me off, here in england we can only get kerrang and scuzz. Kerrang is getting too commercial and scuzz is heading that way. Seriously u think flava flav is bad, u should see who was have hosting Pimp my ride UK :( oh dear. point is MTV sucks, fuck it i just used the net for music now.
Most new music does suck, ESPECIALLY anything "corporate rap", as I call it. That crap on the radio or MTV... it makes me cringe in horror. I mean, have you heard that "like a cholo" song... EPIC FAIL
However, there is some great new artists, but you wont find them on the radio or on TV. The internet is the new place for finding great music. Try Pandora. Just type in a band you really like and it will play other bands that kind of sound like them. Ive found a lot of great bands that way. And remember, for every 10,000 shitty bands on Myspace, there is one great one.
Just like Orcist and tazar were mentioning, there is PLENTY of intellegent hip hop out now, you just have to know where to find it. aside from those they mentioned, almost anything on the definitive jux record label, little brother, weerd science.

I am so bitter for a 20 year old.

LMAO.
Black people are awfully territorial...
Okay, I'm white and even I am offended.
