What is the proper way to blog on Dtoid? What should you do and what should you not do? We will confront this issue with this blog so sit back, grab a cup a joe and enjoy!
A major issue has come out with dtoid bloggers, and it has caused an itch in all of our pants. We have come to a point where blogging is becoming more obtuse and pointless. So many blogs could be considered news tips rather than actual blogs. This must stop, it is very frustrating to see other users useful blogs pushed down and buried because someone posts 5 blogs in the span of 6 hours that only contain two lines of text and a link.
THIS IS NOT BLOGGING! Blogging contains the bloggers OPINION & VIEWS on a subject that is being posted, not two lines of text and a link.
So what needs to be done? Rules should be put in place that require users to post a REAL BLOG instead of news tidbits. Do the blogs have to have anything dealing with gaming? Well that is a whole other issue in itself. The core of this issue is posting an actual blog, lets say the blog can be anything, KEEP IT MORE THAN TWO LINES OF TEXT FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST! AND PLEASE DO NOT COPYPASTA! Put YOUR input on what you are talking about, its not a blog if all you do is cut and paste text, thats a news tip. These are community
blogs not community news submissions. Thats it, no argument, end game.
Now lets say you don't want to do rules and you want to keep it enforcement free. Ok fine, then give the users the option to push down a pointless blog or give the user an option to block someone they don't want to see. Something needs to be done about this. To many of us are sick and tired of seeing good blogs being pushed out of the way because some attention craving moron makes 50 blogs a day. So I say to all of you GET IT RIGHT OR WE WILL PERFORM A C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER ON YOUR ASS!
Now look, I am not trying to say what you should and should not blog. All I am saying is if you are going to blog something, at least put your own damn views on the subject and what you think of the matter, because if all you do is just copy and paste information, its not a blog its just a news post/tip. Simple as that, I'm sure its not that difficult to put your own damn opinon on something your posting.
Now please put your input on this issue, this is not to personally attack anyone. If you want to voice your opinion on this issue please do! :) F&@KING COCKASS!
After you let me mount you! <3
Also, I like making random, one-line or one-pic blog posts a lot of times. I work hard and sometimes I need to get something out on digital paper, no matter how short it is. That's just me, and I don't expect people to read it if they don't want to.
These blogs are still being toyed with, once you have the ability to set up favourites and things, like Mxyzptlk says, it'll be a lot easier. I already know one or two who are so going on the block list.
We get tips in from all over. We don't always get our news via the blog system.
I am also for no rules enforced. The more freedom the community has the more variety of people it will get and various styles of bloggers. It would be stupid to conform to a way to blog.
I would actually like a section like that.
Niero tells of many tweaks and additions in time. Sections like Dtoid Army and news/tips would work. Groups/Friends sounds good. I'm trusting our grand robot leader on this one.
Also, Chris Hanson says.. cockAASSS??!?!!!
Your comment made me lol.
Tips need to be sent to dtoid, random shit needs to stay with the forums and blogs need to stay as what they are... blogs.
Don't forget about the forums people!
It is too late.
:(
Which often includes random shit, really.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was so last month. Anyway.
atheistium says: Don't forget about the forums people!
Yes don't forget, without the forums where will i lurk?
Well, this is partially directed at me.
There's so many ways I could react to it... "What if it was just a pun?", "But my Kane and Lynch post WAS better", "The internet is cereal business" and so on, but really what I'm trying to get at is this:
When I did it, I was simply hoping for a satisfactory responce to the effort I put into entertaining the Dtoid community, not because I was indignant that my post wasn't credited.
It's understandable; if you put time and effort into something, you would quite like a responce or some appreciation. It's not perfect or godlike, but at least I'm being honest. *shrug*
*attaches self to hook and waits for flame*
also no one calls it DT.
