Well holy shit I am excited for this game how about you? #1 ITS FREE!, #2 YOU CAN MAKE YOUR CHARACTER LOOK ANY WAY YOU WANT! #3 ITS RETURNING TO THE BF1942 GAMEPLAY STYLE!!!!!!! I mean come on, who could ask for anything more? This is one of the few titles im actually really excited for now, no matter how simple of a title it is.
Now hold on to your nuts and bolts to those who cry fowl. Especially to those pc goers that yell "WAAAH 3rd PERSON ?!? GET RID OF THAT LEAVE THAT TO CONSOLES!" Leave that to consoles? Son.. do you remember oni? Tomb Raider? RUNE?!? RUNE!!! Come on, third person is an old tactic just as first person is. Its not console territory by any means. Now that I got that out of the way.. the art style, yeah yeah yeah TF2 did it first blah blah blah, and the incredibles had the original look before tf2 theres no need to point out the obvious.
I personally love this art style and want to see chaotic games adopt the style. Because lets face it its a chaotic and absolutely silly environment, and the look will just enhance that silliness even more. And one thing I love about these games is they always will provide epic lulz. Even tho you cry fowl to its 'replicating' tf2, it still has its own visual style to it. For one, the characters look more like art-deco propaganda art than anything else, with their sharp chins and sharp nose they resemble it almost perfectly. And who cannot help but smile with happiness at the pilot poking out of the plane hes sitting in.. its so cute!
Now aside from all that crap, the gameplay in which Battlefield Heroes is falling under is a bit different from the other games in the series. For one you will have one character that you level through out your experience in the game, much like bf2 I'm assuming. On top of that you can make your character look any way you want! There will only be 3 classes, the Soldier, the Gunner, and the Commando. Each with their own specific attributes.. pretty much light, medium, and heavy armored units. And lets not forget the perks.. as much as I'm against perks and what not in certain games..
I will make an exception with this one simply because the perks added to this game are amazing I give you "Bomb Bouquet" (non official name) where you throw 15 GRENADES AT THE SAME TIME! Basically its a hand held artillery strike. How can you NOT love that? Theres a mountain of other perks that are in the game that have not been reviled yet but if thats just one of them man I cannot wait to see more.
The developers also say that gameplay wise the game will play much simpler than the rest of the battlefield series, it will be more focused around blowing shit up and shooting each other than actually having accurate aim.. so crouching will not improve your accuracy. I personally have mixed feelings with this, but as ridiculous as this game is already I can make the exception I suppose!
Also according to the information that has been released you will be able to run this game on the following machine specs : 1 Ghz CPU, 512MB Ram, 64 MB Video Card, 500mb of HD Space.
Anyways, without further delay, I give you the information that has been handed out already @ planetbattlefield.com. This is a list of things that will be featured in the game and some of them may or may not change in the future!
