About Me

I own a FamPuter, which is a 100% fake Famicom. And I do own Super Mario Bros. and Rockman 2 for it, which you don't. :P

I'm a 32 year old gamer. I cannot hang out with most of you, and you should not contact me to buy you cheap wine or cigarettes. I do not like jail. Seriously, I own all three consoles and I don't discriminate. Gaming is for fun, not for sissy slapfights. If you consider yourself partial to a particular console, I don't care why you don't own other consoles, I don't want to hear about it. If you're going to bitch about something, you'd better bring some hard evidence of why you're complaining if you want to cry on my shoulder.

Enjoy this wonderful picture of 2 generations coming together at last...

Dual Shock 3 review
BluDesign | 10:12 AM on 12.13.2007 22 comments

So, as I posted yesterday, my DS3 controller arrived. I took it home last night and tried it out. While I don't have a comprehensive review, I'm hoping you'll find this enlightening and prepare you for it's US/EU release sometime next year.

If you've purchased any spare Sixaxis controllers, you know the routine for setting this up. Hook it to a USB cable to the PS3, turn the PS3 on, once the PS3 loads, hit the PS button, then throw your Sixaxis away.

After this, you'll find that all your games that are going to potentially support rumble, they just work. Don't have to turn anything on, they just work. I tried the Rachet and Clank demo last night, and it just works.

Rumble is just as subtle or bombastic as it was on the Dual Shock 2.

Overall, I give Sony an 11 out of 10 for adding this essential feature back into the controller. I certainly missed it.

It is heavier, BTW, but it's not a lead weight. It just feels like it did before with the DS2, just wirelessly.

Sweet, I'm thinking about picking up one of these ps2 controllers. By the way has anyone tried super gluing an Xbox 360 trigger on the awful ps3 ones? I was thinking it might work, since leverage is the problem

It's funny you give them an 11/10 for something that shoulda been in since the beginning.

For HAVING to do this at all, they get a -8965846578931/10.

No matter how much win this is, it's still FAIL.

if Sony was concearned about their customers instead of trying to rip off the proprietary technology from the company that had the patent there would be no need for this excitement. all this is is Sony actually doing something they should have 18 months ago.

Does MS get a shout out for having it at launch, and not requiring you to buy another controller for 10 year old functionality?

I'm very happy about the weight. The Sevenaxis feels cheap.

It is sweet they put in a feature in a game that people can't use. Excellent!

My buddy ordered one and brought it over. I have to say that it feels a lot more solid, and having rumble back is just awesome.

Don't buy any more sixaxis controllers, just wait for the rumble!

I'm glad rumble is back. Now they just need to make an actually new controller.

I'm more glad the weight is back than the rumble. I like the controller to have a good weight to it; I.E. the wireless 360 controller feels a lot better than the wired one due to the battery pack in the middle.

I order the Black Dual Shock 3 against my initial judgement. The analog sticks and buttons would have to be all White for it to look right.
