This is just a reminder that the Funspot NARP is next weekend. The plan is to first hit up Funspot at 2pm , spend a couple of hours there and end up at my house in Lynn for some continued fun. I have plenty of parking, 2 bedrooms (lots of floor space), consoles and tvs as mentioned in the last post, so it doesn't end after Funspot!

Hey there! It’s almost that time of year again when Dtoid New England celebrates it’s annual Funspot NARP! For those that don’t know, Funspot is pretty much the mecca of classic gaming and we're going there! This year’s classic arcade trip will begin on Saturday, September 24th at 2pm. After a few hours of arcades and ticket whoring, we head to my place just outside of Boston for some NARPage. It's going to be a solid day of awesome!

Funspot is a great time considering there is no way you can get bored at a place like this. It has Ten Pin and Candle Pin bowling. For our eating and drinking needs, there is a restaurant and tavern. It certainly has one of the biggest classic gaming rosters I've ever seen including Dragon's Lair, Defender and Galaga! With a decent semi typical arcade list like Time Crisis, Daytona USA, Simpsons etc...the NARP's location will be at my place and have some things set up in 2 rooms; consoles and such. Last year, my room became the music room (Rockband, Just Dance, Singstar) and the other became the fightan room with 3 tv's(SF3:3rd Strike, Street Fighter 4, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Scott Pilgrim vs The World). I just wanted to remind people that this Saturday is the NARP. Everything you need to know is below!

When: Saturday May 7th, late afternoon

Heyricochet's been known to have an impressive collection of retro goodness. Returning to the old always helps cope with the ever present overload of flashy graphics and the like!

Some of what he has going on are 4 televisions, each with a different system running on them. The main TV in the living room usually has the 360 playing music games such as DJ Hero, Rock Band and Def Jam Rapstar. Another 2 TVs off to the side to play the Wii and a hacked Xbox with MAME installed for some arcade action. Then the retro room has 2 TV's as well, where you can have a hand at anything from NES to Dreamcast. We may even have some random tournaments involving horrible fighting games! You never know what we're gonna cook up! I hope you all can make it!

It was me(Senisan) and Tha Meat's birthday not long ago and we had made plans together to make it an event!
We first started the night with some arcade gaming at the newly made Pinball Wizard in Pelham, NH. It's a fairly large arcade by today's standards, sporting over 100 arcades and 80 something pinball machines. We came upon some fantastic gems and we will definitely be hitting this place up again.

We had been at Pinball Wizard for quite a while and we were starting to get hungry, so we moved on to Tokyo Steakhouse for some hibachi grilling. For those who don't already know, these steakhouses have us sit around a usually charismatic cook, while he makes us delicious food! It's pretty entertaining to watch a man make onion volcanoes.

We then headed to our final destination. A bunch of dudes heading to a private room for karaoke. If a sausage fest karaoke doesn't sound like a night in heaven then I don't want to go there! We headed to Brighton where Do Re Mi's little establishment is to see what this place was all about. Non of us had been there before so we were looking forward to it. It's pretty decent with a few rooms varying in size depending on the group. The price isn't too bad either. There is no alcohol allowed but you can easily sneak things in some and according to yelp, as long as your not a douche about it and trash the place, they won't care.

So, it's Tha_Meat and Senisan's birthday this Saturday. I know it's kind of sudden but we were hoping we could get together and check out that new arcade Pinball Wizard in Pelham, NH. This has to be the biggest arcade that's just less than an hour from Boston. After we get our fill of arcades, we're going to Tokyo Steakhouse in Andover to eat some tepanyaki (japanese food cooked in front of you) and if it's not too late (which it probably will be) we could try to karaoke at Doremi's in Allston. It's private room karaoke that has a great selection of musics. They also don't allow alcohol but supposedly it's somewhat easy to sneak in and they don't care as long as you don't trash the place. Well, hope to see ya'll there!
