That’s right. I wiped that sucker clean. The reason is because I had just purchased a brand new xbox 360 and wanted to transfer my licenses to it. Since it was necessary to re-download all of the items that I wanted, it didn’t make sense to simply go thru and delete all the unwanted crap on there before re-downloading everything.
There were consequences. I lost all of my data for my saved games. I knew this would happen and it was fine with me, since it gave me a reason to go back to some of my old games and play thru them again to re-unlock missing difficulty and level select options, as well as other goodies (I am a little peeved that I have to get all those Table Tennis characters again,though). Plus, I knew my achievements and "high" scores would be immortalized forever online, so that was one less thing to worry about.
Some of them I am looking forward to re-doing (Call of Duty 4, Orange Box, skate.), and some not so much (I’m looking in your direction, Lost Planet). The first order of business was to re-unlock everything in RezHD on the Xbox Live Arcade. If anyone has any suggestions for some lesser known quality XBL downloads that I should check out, speak on it in the comments section. That means do not recommend Braid to me please. I already know that game has you all on its proverbial dick.
Anyway, RezHD is a fantastic game. I know I
expressed some concern that perhaps I had just wasted some money directly after purchasing it, but soon afterward I found myself enjoying it quite a bit once the game started making sense. I blew through all of the 5 areas and got to work on some of the ‘Beyond’ modes.
Of course, recently I had to start all over. I found that my skillz in RezHD were on the decline. I could still complete score attack, but could not top the local leaderboards for some reason.
Then I remembered that combos are absolutely vital. When you go through the game trying to make every attack an 8x, the face of the game becomes entirely different, and strategy becomes a factor. It is quite challenging at times to find 8 enemies on screen, especially with 3 or 4 missiles coming at you.
The best thing to do in this position is to find a target that takes a lot of hit points. You target the 3 or 4 missiles, then quickly lock the next 4 onto another enemy that takes a lot of abuse before you fire them off(or you can use the password box at the end of each stage for this). The 8x combo will multiply your score greatly, as well as get those threatning baddies outta your face in a hurry. Call me late to the party but I never realized this until after playing with my chemistry set last night
Another clever aspect of the game is enemies who will expand if you give them enough time to. An enemy can be dispatched when it first appears, or you can give it time to fire at you and work those additional enemies into the combo.
I just wanted to say a few words to sort of re-clarify what I said about the game before. I probably shouldn’t be on here giving all my secrets away but its not like any of you fruits still play this game. Or do you?? (if not you maybe should consider thinking about playing it, possibly.)
I also am in no hurry to replay Lost Planet.
Ikargua is also on XBLA, one of my favorite shmups, you should play that too if you haven't done so.
Also do download Ikaruga, and do download the new Bionic Commando remake that came out today.
I see you hail from Florida, and will be sure to take that into account whenever you express an opinion on something.
@Inexpressticality
I actually have Streets of Rage 2, and am willing to take you up on your offer. I will know are serious about being BFF with me once I recieve a BFF request on Xbox Live.
(even though I have a horrid SD tv, I just love REZ)
