I'm reserving judgement on this one until we've got more to go with. I think a lot of people were disapointed that this is essentially a reinvention of the franchise regardless of of how interesting the new gameplay may look which IMO is kind of fair enough. Rare had to know that there was expectation on this game to be a platformer, the same as the previous two games and the trailer mostly showed only this new assemble-a-vehicle mechanic despite the game still featuring the more traditional platforming.
I don't think people would be taking issue with Nuts & Bolts right now had Rare presented it differently.
I like the idea behind the game and have no doubt it won't be a success, but this is not what I want the Banjo game that I waited years for to be. I guess I'm an ass like that.
Also, "Everyone likes to build things, everyone likes to create things," from what I know, this is not true.
the vechiles "replace banjo's moveset"
"moved away from the platforming"
this is literally breaking my heart.
No, your quiet wrong Perfect Dark Zero was a mess of a game. In the case of BK:N&B, Ill wait till Ive seen more or played it before I cast it to the unwanted pile.
@razrangel, where did I say PDZ was a good game? I haven't played it so how would I know if it was a good game or not. @Johnathan Kerr, my blog post wasn't directed at people like you who liked the idea but found the new Banjo to have been kind of weird but people who think the games going to suck just because it was not what they are expecting. I was a little surprised to but I think that changing the formula might be a good idea. You don't want Banjo to go the way of Spyro and Crash where it is the same now outdated and generic gameplay from the Playstation era do you? Because lets face it, if Banjo where exactly the same but with prettier graphics I doubt the game would do very well. Also, I think this game is still going to be a platformer, just a new kind of platformer.
I'm reserving any scathing judgment until the game comes out. I think it's way too early and the screen shots and videos we've seen were in response to a leak and they're running damage control now.
A good platformer stays true to its roots while bringing innovation and new elements to the game. It remains to be seen if this is really the case with Nuts and Bolts
