I got my Wii right when it came out, and I was so excited to be apart of Nintendo's revolution (so to speak). When I got home with my Wii I could not stop playing it for a a couple of months, and now I find myself letting my Wii collect dust. Why is that? I don't own a PS3 (too much money) or either a 360 (I'm not a fan of Microsoft at all), but I do find myself playing my PS2, DS, and PSP a lot.
People tell me "why don't you buy VC games or use any of the channels on the Wii?" Well...I do have a few VC games, but I don't want to play old school games all the time, and the channels on the Wii suck. I want new games that use the Wii to its full potential. I don't find Every One Votes channel every interesting and the browser is well...lame. I have my laptop that is always on 24/7 and I can just check my email, YoutTube videos, or whatever else on my computer. Nintendo needs to do something and fast about the games and this past E3 did make me a little happy, and I stress on the word
LITTLE, but at least I see interesting games that are coming out for the Wii. The end of the year should be interesting for the Wii though since Metroid and Smash are coming out. I guess I'll just have to seat back and relax for those Wii games.
I think what you meant was "Why does the Wii lack compelling software?"
I know, you've heard this before, but I really think all the third party developers were simply caught with their pants down. And now that they're actually making games, it's mostly cow patties like Alien Syndrome and FarCry: Vengeance. I would say that Ubisoft is the worst offender, but I've gotta hand the crown to Conspiracy Entertainment for their nine, count 'em, nine PS2 ports of games we all know and love like Ninjabread Man and Myth Makers. Talk about shitty games.
I know I tell everyone this, but if you haven't already, check out Paper Mario. Not Super Paper Mario, but the original on the VC. You'd be surprised how well it still holds up.
One more thing: I know that game-listing is to message boards what prop-comedy is to stand-up, but here is a list of great titles coming out this year. Surely a few will get you moist.
Mario Strikers Charged
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure
Battalion Wars 2
Endless Ocean
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
Fire Emblem
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2
Ghost Squad
Those are all coming out this year. Do anything for you?
• Overall lack of potentially awesome shooters (There's like, two coming out, and one's a WWII game).
• Abundance of bland minigame titles (Getting HIGH RATINGS ON reviews)
• Reggie Fils-Aime's obsession with sales charts.
• Ridiculously stupid accessories (The sports attachments)
Sorry, most of these are things that irk me. Too much time on Digg, which has an unnaturally strong Wii bias (And a lack of news in general for anything else), Mike Casamassina's jolly "I told you so"s, as well as stupid statements like Wii Sports being considered "one of the best sports games in years" have really got into my head. This isn't flamebait, I just have a terrible distaste for the Wii until original content that isn't designed for thirteen-year-old girls gets released.
This is coming from someone who wants the Virtual Console [i]badly[i], seeing how I've missed out on all of Nintendo's previous home consoles. and I generally hate having to resort to emulation.
however your actualy post never asnwerd the question, it just sort of expanded the question.
The answer is that the Wii does not sucks, however nintendo's business strategy sucks for you.
For some reason you decided to enter the 'next generation' of video game consoles and bought the wii. However, for most true 'gamers' the nintendo wii is not meant to be the main console. It is meant to be the second console that you break out when guests who are non gamers are present.
So, in conclusion, YOU suck for buying the wii and only the wii.
go get a 360 loser.

I don't think calling him a loser is going to convince him to see past the Microsoft-loathing and purchase an XBOX360. In fact, I think you just solidified his decision to stay away from the system altogether. Get your fanboyn' straight man! Here's an example:
Your console is the "Windows Millennium edition" of gaming. Enjoy.
Sorry to depress you, I'm actually an upbeat guy. It's just that I want to like the Wii, but I just can't without selling off my logic. People go around denying facts about the Wii, spurting off why the PS3 sucks rather than listening to what the Wii needs to improve on. I swear, just READ the shit people write about the Wii.
Also, I just want everybody to know that I played Bomberman Live with a fucking hottie at my house last Friday (Should explain why I was late to FNF). She doesn't play games, but she picked up pretty quick and enjoyed the hell out of it and is looking forward to more.
Twilight Princess, Paper Mario, Resident Evil 4, GodFather, Elebits, Trauma Center for single player, and Wii Sports, Wii Play, Big Brain, and Wario Ware for multi-player. It's really been a better line up than I expected.
I can't remember when I enjoyed a consoles first 8 months as much. And with Metroid coming out next month, then Mario Galaxy in Nov, then Smash Bros on Dec, I really couldn't ask for more.
The people dissatified with the Wii seem to be "my console is in my bedroom" types, not "my console is in my living room" types.
If you want to be playing video games 4 hours a day every day, then the Wii is not the console for you. You will burn through all it's "hardcore" single player games in a month. However, that's better than can be said for the PS3. A "hardcore gamer" could get through Resistance, The Darkness, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma in a week and a half.
I play video games for about 40 minutes a day, and for that purpose the Wii has been the perfect console.
It's the developers that are too lazy to do anything with it and Nintend's current wobble-board attitude that suck.
no i think my last sentace of the previous comment was fine.
I would never compare to Wii to windows millenium edition.
I love the wii, and i just stayting that a wii alone for a 'true' gamer (like somebody who visits video games blogs and posts there) was a stupid move.
