About Me
The name's sarah schutz - I'm a writer and a gamer and just became an Associate Editor for Tomopop. I am the co-founder/writer for ChicksDigGames.com, a locale for hardcore female gamers which will be launching out of beta in early November. I am a freelance writer who will pen masterpieces for anyone who will have me and even those who don't know they will yet. I get everywhere I need to go on my bicycle and if I can't get there on a bicycle, it's nowhere worth going. I wear stilettos and carry hot sauce in my purse - next to my ds and my psp.

I play pretty much everything I can get my hands on, but my favorites are jrpgs, fps and action adventure. I enjoy finding games thrown off the beaten path that only need someone to love them. I was raised on old school point and click adventures and it's affected my current generation gaming. While I'm usually found on one one of my consoles, I can also be found with one of my World of Warcraft characters.

I'm currently leveling up my WoW toon in preparation for the Lich King release and salivating over the big upcoming console releases.

Agreed. If the realm of video games is going to intesect with "RL" under any circumstances, this has got to be among the worst possible. Most of the core Halo 3 fan base is comprised of high school-age kids that will play, and win, and end up in a casket donned in Old Glory.

I only wonder why Halo was the game of choice...if you are looking for the next great generation of soldiers halo is the last place I would look...

Dunno, man. Video games are excellent training for hand-eye coordination situations. These guys, whether you like them or not have to be quick with a gun, distinguish friend from foe, etc.

What do you want them to train with instead?

Halo 3 is perfect, if you think about it. Young, malleable minds eager to shoot anonymously without question. The problem may come when they see that first real, human head explode in their scope and realize what they're actually doing. Judging by the dross I hear on Live, this probably won't be a problem either.

They used to use a version of quake written especially for the military to help train green berets in urban warfare and team tactics.

No, halo is probably one of the easier fps(s) as far as I am concerned. Plenty of other fps that require some level of tactical understanding/skill/intelligence whilst still retaining a level of mindless following in its players...

Any good counterstrike/call of duty/battlefield gamer vs. a halo one any day...
