Nintendo Patents Inflatable Horse Saddle!
digweed13 | 7:30 AM on 08.11.2009 5 comments

Although the story sounds a little weird, considering what Nintendo patented. They have patented a inflatable horse which in turns leads to being able to create a number of other inflatable animals and items.

Discovered in the European Patent Database by Siliconera, the Wii Horseback Riding Saddle is apparently an inflatable saddle with a pouch where players can insert the Wii Remote. Players can then hold the Nunchuck up as a set of reins or "a raised hand for balance as in Bronco riding, a lasso, a sword or other weapon", according to the patent.

The patent also claims that the construction of the inflatable saddle would be similar to conventional exercise balls and that "an advantage of an inflatable design is that it is compact to ship and store."

The intended use for the saddle would be to simulate virtual horse riding obviously, but Nintendo hasn't limited it's ambition to targeting a single animal. The patent also discusses how the saddle could simulate the experience of riding "bulls, camels, elephants, burros, dolphins, whales dragons, griffons, unicorns [and] giant eagles."

Also, Jim Sterling riding a Toucan! Score!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

 about me

I like computers, gaming and anything tech.

Trance and Techno are the best genres of music, well in my opinion anyways.

There's more I could put but don't feel like it right now... maybe later. CYA!
