I am twenty six years old, and I'm OBSESSED with soda (Coke), Poptarts (Strawberry), and video games. I live a pretty boring life at the moment, take up most of my time playing games and waiting for the new edition to the family... My wife and I are expecting our first child in July, and I couldn't be happier. I am really into all forms of music, but mainly black metal, death metal, and some grindcore.
Born and raised in California, I also like some old west coast punk rock.
In this blog I plan to cover all kinds of things, movie reviews, game reviews... as well as venting, ranting and my thoughts on everything.
If you don't like what I have to say, move on.
From time to time, when I have the goods(heh), I plan on giving away some free stuff, could be anything from a used console to a dvd.
All in all, I just love DTOID and all it has to offer.

My Favorite Akira AMV

Metal Gear Online stand alone version.
dephect | 6:59 PM on 06.30.2008 9 comments

So, it seems that Kojima is so happy with how MGO is doing, they will be releasing a stand alone version of it on July 17th in japan for 17$ (or 1,800 yen for the Japanese). No word if it will be disc based or DLC on the PSN market place.

This doesn't make much sense to me because I for one happen to think that this game is pretty much all about the single player missions and story line. Sure, Metal Gear has online.. but is it worth buying a disc that contains only that? I dont think so.

I was very dissapointed with the BETA of Metal Gear online, and hoped for so much more when the game actually launched, but none the less it was the same. I keep trying to tell myself that its just a change of pace in play value, but really its not. I would say over the half the time the team you end up playing with has no idea what they are doing and trys to kill their own team, ruining what little fun the game was in the process.

What do you guys think of this? And if it comes to the states... would anyone actually consider skiping the single player mode?

I honestly enjoy the multiplayer. But I never thought that it was doing SO well that it deserved to be sold separately. I'm pretty sure majority of the gamers hear or read Metal Gear Solid and think campaign before multiplayer.

As I don't own a PS3, I can't say much for MGO, but from a general gamer standpoint, No I wouldn't buy JUST the MGO disc. It's like Valve selling Orange Box at $40.00, and then releasing TF2 for $20.00. No one who actually knows anything about Valve or Orange Box would get JUST the TF2. But, I've been wrong before.

I love Metal Gear Online. I think it's awesome but I never played the beta which apparently was very underwhelming but the final version is greatly improved. I mean that's the point of a beta right? They [i]are not[i] a demos.

That being said I don't see the point in a stand alone version when MGO is free on MGS4. Why would you want MGO and not MGS4 as well?
