Killzone 3 leaked - Another one bites the dust.

This is a huge week for leaks on the video game front. First we had MVC3 and Crysis 2 leaked and now its turns out a "press release" copy has been stolen/copied and distributed on the web a couple hours ago. I expect in the next few days it will be all over the place.

The file size for this one is a massive 40gig but I doubt that will stop people from snagging it.

release news -

-3D doesn't work (freeze on menu)
-Slower loading time than BR (a lot slower) Actually it's so slow, you need to pause the game when a cinematic occurs so the game can load and the movie doesn't stutter.
-The language is MULTI21
-Contains censored cinematics on a folder called TABOO, so it's easy to uncensor, just swap the movie files from the uncensored one.
-As 3D doesn't work, we can rip off 3D movies contained into STEREO folders (and TABOO folder when we are it). That leaves the game weight at about 23Gb. (40gig with)
-Audio is sometimes glitchy (stutter, loop, mute)
-The leak came from Press Release.

The leaks of week.

So it seems that Marvel vs Capcom 3 is out in the wild today, I am not really sure if this is a retail rip of a copy that was grabbed from a broken street date or straight from "the lab"... sad day. MVC3 is just one of those games you should just buy if you enjoy it... it's fucking MVC!!! OPEN YOUR WALLET.

In an other turn (I believe on the same day?) the dev build of Crysis 2 has leaked for pc. This one I see as a huge problem and I feel for the guys. Its the full on game with multiplayer. The only difference I know of is the game is locked down to DX9 and has "dev text" all over the place. They say that the game is NOT the finished product, but of course they would say that being how close it is to release they don't want everyone rushing out and grabbing it. I for one will be picking this game up on release day just to support the guys, I love Crysis and its spec wow factor.

I am not going to go on about how piracy is killing the pc industry because I don't believe it is. Games are still being released on a steady basis for the pc and their are some great titles. Regardless of what you think pirates gonna pirate and buyers gonna buy. Support what you love.

Anyways, just my two cents.

p.s. I'm still alive, motherfuckers.

Shout out to my loves.   read

Retro fun! Shmups.

Hello world (er... Destructoid) It's been a long time.

Ive been on a console collection as of late and I came across a Dreamcast in almost perfect condition (Yeah I know, starting a console collection sans Dreamcast?!) and I picked it up for 19$ with a VMU as well as a rumble pack, which I had never owned before. Needless to say I am loving it.

This brings me to the blogs to talk about my new obsession in gaming. Shmups.

It seems that I have have some how completely over looked this genre and really never gave it a chance, well besides the occasional Raiden... which I always just gave up on because I seemed to die 15 times before the first level was over. I have come to realize that these games take a lot of practice but with time they really stand out. The one I have been into most lately is Giga Wing 2... God fucking shit fucks motherfucker this game is amazing.

(See here)

Its tough as nails and I love it.

There is a story to this game, but who the hell cares... no one wants to read when you can blow shit up. It has character select, each one of them has slightly different abilitys... really I think its all on preference at the end of the day... some shoot different or have different special attacks but really as far as I can tell they more or less do the same thing... a nice note about the special attack (bombs?) is that when you use them they clear the entire screen of all enemy fire. You have a "reflect shield" you can use when things get too insane and reflect all of the enemys gunfire back to them, blowing everything up in your way, but you have to be pretty wise when to use because there is a recharge time on this and if you use it at the wrong time... say in a boss fight... well.. youre fucked. The bosses are huge and they are totally unforgiving. I think they only bad thing I can even say about this game is the fact that you have infinite continues. Its seems to be more of a score attack game. I find myself quitting around around three continues because it feels more true to the game to do it that way. I would rather beat it knowing I did it with skill.

Another thing to love about this game is the music.

It has a very creepy classical vibe to the entire thing... sort of like Castlevania meets Hannibal Lecter. Each stage has very amazing detailed music. Do yourself a favor a try it out.

Great game, seriously my new obsession. I am playing some others that stand out such as Mars Matrix, Ikaruga, Chaos Field and Karous... but none of them add up to Giga Wing 2 in my opinion. This was a bit of a run off rant but I just thought I would share my new love with gaming as of late.

If anyone knows any great Dreamcast titles within the genre please let me know.   read

XBOX dash update - In ninja vision -

Interesting video...

This highlights some of the things people have been wondering about, such as how the themes will work, how you look up the achievements etc.

Overall when I first saw this dashboard when it was just being talked about... I really wasn't that thrilled about it but the more I see the more I like it. Another thing that I thought was a huge improvement was the new in game guide, just watch the video and you will see what I mean. That said, I do not like the idea of the Avatars. I know, I know... a lot of you actually do, but as he says in the video - "A lot of people see this a Mii rip off" I have to agree... I dont want my dashboard looking like an 8yr olds dvd chapter selection.

Other than that I like the new additions and think over all it will be useful and something nice and new to play around with. Also might be better for the new people getting 360, as I happen to think the current 360 dashboard is a bit cluttered and clunky to navigate.

Notes on the video quality... it was asked not to be filmed, but some sneaky ninja decided to do so anyways.

Enjoy.   read

I got my Xbox 360 from Destructoid!!!

Ah, finally... it arrived today. I was cussing the UPS people in IRC and the BAM the truck pulls up.

Its up and running, no RROD out of the box (phew). The only problem it does have is the USB section is broken (the flip lid) and it has a big crack there... not a problem since I can always buy a new one. (blame it on the USPS).

Anyhow.. PICTURES!

Thanks again to Destructoid, even more so Niero for making this happen.

I am off to play some Lost Odyssey ;)   read

NES emulator working on the PS3 with BD-J.

The BD-J home brew scene has been picking up lately... it started off with some Pong, then we got some Snake... but today a new standard has been set.

A Japanese coder recently released an NES emulator that works with the help of BD-J on your PS3. The only thing that seems to be lacking is sound... and I am not even sure if that's possible add, only time will tell.

Wanna try it? Lets get started...

1. Download THIS

2. Extract the the folder in the compressed file to the main root of a USB device or memory stick

3. Place the ROMs you would like to play into the main folder you have just extracted to the root

4. Go to the Video section in the XMB on your PS3

5. You will need to click the USB or memory stick you have chosen

6. Select the BD-J homebrew game

7. Next, you will be brought to a file viewer in which, you may choose ROMs

8. Now the game will start. Press the triangle button then go to the numeric pad

9. The 1 on the pad stands for select and the 2 acts as start

10. You may now press triangle and enjoy the game

(the red square takes you back to the rom list)

I tried out this emulator and it works great. There is a slight delay with the controls but its not really an issue at all. Trying this out some roms seem to not load at all... Punch out for example (awwww man!) does nothing, but most of the ones I did try (The Mario series, Mega Man's etc) worked fine.   read

XBOX 360 Update Leaked and being used

Install process-

Loading the Dash-

It seems that M$ has had their new firmware for the 360 leaked... already, as well as running on modded consoles. There has been no word if this will get you banned or what not, but its out there in the wild if you search hard enough.

I am guessing that since this has been leaked there will be some word from M$ very soon... and this may even end up making them release more features for it so they can get one over on the people already using it... I wouldnt imagine they wouldnt want their "following the rules" types to be missing out for no reason.

Just a quick heads up for people that have heard this rumble with no proof.   read
