As some of you know, I had been having problems with my PS3 and planned on returning it. Well, I finally found the time and thought "I should package it up", take it to Walmart before a month or so ran up and I wouldn't be able to exchange it. So I do just that... already in a bad mood from no sleep, I just want everything to go smoothly. Usually everything does go pretty damn smooth with taking things back to walmart, I cant ever remember them caring about "return policies" and the like... but this time THEY DID. After waiting for every irritated spastic to return their stuff, it was my turn. I get up to the counter and the ghetto thuggish walmart lady says "use gots a racept?" (read ebonics) as to which I proudly pull out of my pocket and put on the counter like a prize, I really figured that would shut her up... but it didn't. She proceeded to take the entire PS3 out of the box, every cord etc, lay it all out on the counter... and then tell me "use cant ratuuuuurn dis, it be afta fiftin dauys", I look at her and say "What!?" she says "fiftin dauys.... afta that, yall cant ratuuuurn dis". Obviously I am very irratated... for one I cant understand this "lady" behind the counter... at all, and she unboxed the entire PS3 only to tell me I cant get a new one, no matter if I have the "racept"... and to top it all off, she walked off leaving me to box the PS3 back up.
After getting my friend to help me box the it back up (its a pain in the ass... try it, makes you really respect the factory workers) I take the PS3 back to electronics (along the way I was ambushed by a security guard asking why I had a PS3, as if it was stolen) and ask them what their return policy is on it, to which she says "I dun knaw....". I just want to explode.
Finally after just getting irate, they bring a manager in who says "whats the problem?". I explain to her this lady told me I couldn't return my exchange my PS3 for a new one because I have had it longer than 15 days... she looks at me puzzled and says "You have a full 90 days to exchange, or return it..." then looks at the people behind the counter and tells them "get this man another Playstation 3". Victory.
Whats even better is we had to go back up to front desk (return area) to have them exchange it.. and the ghetto thug that told me I couldn't return it... tried again, not noticing the manager was there and pretty much got a verbal ass beating, I wont lie... It made me smile.
After all that hassle you would think I would go home, not even. Earlier in that day I remember Wardrox going on about GTAIV in IRC... and I remember thinking "I must be the only damn person not owning this game". Feeling like a child left out of xmas, I picked it up.
My mini review -
My first thoughts were not pretty. Knowing the I would have to do a bit on installing before I could play, I decided to pick up some McDonald's and eat while I waited.
First thing I noticed was how horrible and repetitive the music was, then I noticed how many damn times they showed the same pictures... *kept eating*.
INSTALLS WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Wait... its still showing the same pictures, why cant I skip them!?
Finally, I get to play. Music gets better and I start thinking it wont be so bad... until I see t he opening character models graphics, I cringe. For some reason I was really thinking that Rockstar REALLY upped the ante this time, not just a touch up. I try to look past that and get passed the opening dialog (which I might add, I thought were pretty funny) and am ready to drive and kill and have sex and and and.. wait.. why does the car drive like its on creamed corn and oil? Silly me.. I was just thinking it was that car.. to find out ITS EVERY CAR!!!!
Honestly though, I got used to it. The driving is "eh" at best... but not horrible. The graphics can be beautiful as well as horrid. The skits are epic... I will agree with you guys, Niko Bellic is hilarious.
All in all I am satisfied with my purchase, but I can tell you this... I will never buy anything over 100$ at Walmart again, I love my money too much to be told I cant get it back if whatever I bought is broken.
It seems that this whole piracy issue that has went beast upon Grand Theft Auto IV has turned to an all new low. The website http://thepiratebay.org/ is actually celebrating the release of torrents containing GTA IV for 360... so much so they have changed their logo to a mock up of GTA meets the Pirate Bay.
I for one have no real intentions of picking the game up, I may rent it but I am not on edge about grabbing a copy... but I know a lot of people are. I just really think its all getting out of hand and I actually feel for the devs this time, ripped games are bad, leaks are even worse.
So, I recently found out that the double XP event for Call of Duty 4 on the PS3 is only for the people buying the new maps. I wish I would have known about this before hand, I would have never gave it a second thought.
I was told the logic behind this was because not as many people will have the new maps so they give you double xp for buying them (even out the kills and points because less people will be on them...)... but I see it as a gimmick to get people to buy the new maps.
I despise paying for DLC and I wont do it, maps or not... and now that I know that they are only handing out double xp for people that choose to support the pay as you go way of gaming... it makes me even more upset about the whole issue.
Anyhow, just though I would give people a heads up.. in case you were expecting to get the double xp for free...
I have come to the conclusion that flow is a horrible game, and as it turns out many agree. So far the only people I know that really enjoy this game are people that haven't played it (yeah I dont know, you work that out). I had everyone telling me how awesome Flow was that I HAD to try it out. So at the time, I didn't have a PS3 and it had just came out for psp. I was all over it. I download, eager to see how epic and amazing this was to find out its a narcoleptic shit fest. I fell asleep playing this piece of trash, and not just once... many times. I have NEVER fallen asleep playing a game, even more so a handheld... (could cause damage sleeping and dropping... bad times) but this game is a sleeping pill in eboot form.
I gave it the run, and even tried to convince myself it was just "relaxing"... but no, its a horrid. As far as aquatic games go I would rather play Ecco the Dolphin, or hell even Seaman for Dreamcast.
Final Thoughts - To enjoy this game uppers are required, otherwise sleep induced coma may break your psp.
Ah... the days before everyone and their lawyer told you games were bad for you and would make you kill your family in the middle of the night. This video made me happy. I can remember wasting my entire childhood in front on the Nintendo, telling my friends that I was busy when they came over... and I do the same today. It may be sad, but to this day I still sometimes choose gaming over hanging out with friends... (waits for friends to read this and solve the mystery).
Genki-JAM brought this to my attention, so thank him not me. I just thought I would share it with everyone, it worked for me the very first try. I am now ready for monday.
Guide: How to get a Konami ID within 20 mins
Postby ACE on Today, 16:41
I tried all day and got soooo **bleep** off with errors and timeouts, but I used my noggin and have created a way to get in within a few minutes (if you're lucky) and a maximum of 20 mins (if you're unlucky)
* You need Firefox
* Goto Tools Add ons, Get Extensions
* Find the AutoFormer add on and install it and restart the browser
* goto https://id.konami.net and click register (Blue button on the left) - might take a while but keep trying
* Enter your date of birth and go to edit in Firefox menu and find AutoFormer, click Save all fields - this will now save you entering the DOB again if you need to come back to this stage
* click next
* Wait until the terms show before clicking next again
* fill out the entire form carefully, don't rush you have all the time in the world. Make sure you don't use capitals in username, and make sure game id password is all numbers. Make sure phone number and postcode have no spaces
* now before clicking next click edit again and AutoFormer>save all fields
* Click next, it'll probably fail due to time taken to complete the form. Don't worry
* Start again, this time your DOB should be auto inserted click next to terms, click next to form, click next to confirmation click next and you're done - SIMPLE!!!
If you get kicked out at any point, start again. The point is you don't have to keep re-inserting data and this gives you a MUCH higher chance of getting through before timeouts.
Hope it works for you
Edit - WHEN you get in, remember to click the link in the confirmation email within 72 hours to view & agree to the T's & C's.
So, I am trying to get this Konami ID (Which I didnt know I even needed...) so that I can ensure my place in the beta on monday, and their site is complete trash. It already is looking bad. Now, I know its a beta and thats what these things are for... but there is one problem with that, THIS IS NOT THE GAME, ITS THE SITE. This is not to mention the horrible P2P option, which took me about 7 tries and 30 mins waiting for it to start. I just dont get how this whole situation can get botched up so bad so fast. What I am thinking now, is there can only be one thing to save this beta... the game itself. Its pretty bad when the game pisses you off to the point of suicide before you have even got pass the login screen. Just my two cents on MGO. How do you guys feel?
I am twenty six years old, and I'm OBSESSED with soda (Coke), Poptarts (Strawberry), and video games. I live a pretty boring life at the moment, take up most of my time playing games and waiting for the new edition to the family... My wife and I are expecting our first child in July, and I couldn't be happier. I am really into all forms of music, but mainly black metal, death metal, and some grindcore.
Born and raised in California, I also like some old west coast punk rock.
In this blog I plan to cover all kinds of things, movie reviews, game reviews... as well as venting, ranting and my thoughts on everything.
If you don't like what I have to say, move on.
From time to time, when I have the goods(heh), I plan on giving away some free stuff, could be anything from a used console to a dvd.
All in all, I just love DTOID and all it has to offer.
