Why can't I stop playing Final Fantasy Tactics?

It's been about a week now, and I've already clocked in about 23 hours into The War of the Lions.

I don't even notice the slowdown anymore.

And I'm completely sucked into the story now. The new scenes and the rewrites are just THAT GOOD.

Anyway, now that I'm a bit older (I played the original when I was 11) I have a much better grasp on the concept of the game and how the mechanics work. I'm having a blast experimenting with different combinations of abilities and using classes beyond Knights, Archers and Black Mages, which in my eleven-year-old mind was all I needed. I mean, what the fuck does a Calculator do?

So I ask you, fellow cloggers, what's your ideal 5 man squad? Name class, secondary classes, extra abilities, etc. Please refrain from naming any story related characters like Orlandeau or Agrias. I'm only interested in your base soldiers.

I'd tell you what my ideal party is, but I'm afraid I'm still working on figuring out what exactly I want out of my characters. I'm hoping to receive some insight from what you guys all post.

Surrender, or die in obscurity!

Now, have some RamzaxAgrias.

I've always thought they would make an interesting couple, especially with Agrias' older age and tough swordsman (swordswomyn) attitude. Ramza would definitely be the bitch in this relationship.

Because it's a great game. I have a PSP but I'm thinking of replaying the original. I don't like the slowdown and the new script seems too pretentious. I never had a problem with the original script...

Honestly i can't remember very well, i remember a couple had the white magic spells, most had the 2 swords of the ninja, and i had at least a knight, a thief and a monk.

@ShadowXOR
You mean they changed that line on the PSP version?

I know, time just seems to fly by when playing this game. I've sunk thirty hours into it so far. I'm also still playing with my team, but I'm trying to make Ramza a Dark Knight. That's a pain in the ass.

I would get into this, but I think Soul Nomad is going to absorb my tactical gaming soul soon. My boyfriend is definitely putting plenty of hours into this game though. Using Monks and Mimes and other manners of rape I think.

I'm not too far into it storyline-wise, because I've just been doing random battles to boost my JP. Preparing for the battle at Ziekden Fortress, and I have a White Mage that can block physical attacks, and who already knows how to cast Holy.

That's right. My White Mage is a killing machine.

I think a lot of the addictive nature comes from trying to see how broken of a character you can make. =P

Well Archers with a sub in knight usually work pretty well. Being able to break armor from a distance always helps. Another if you want big damage numbers at the sacrifice for speed would be a knight that can duel wield. Next I would have a dancer to keep the status effects going. Then the obligatory white mage with the time mage ability to shorten casting time as well as a summoner with the same time mage ability. This team usually can get shit done so you can try it if you want.

Knives: Yup, that line is gone.

Deiga, Have you ever played the Tactics Advance games?
I really wish they would have stuck to the original world of FFT1, instead of putting it in Ivalice, and making the main characters scrappy little kids from our world who visit via magical book mishap.
