About Me

My other account on Destructiod is "jertoid"

I had a problem logging in not to long ago, requested my password, but I also can't log into my email.

So I made a new email, and a new Destructoid account.

I copied and pasted my recent "History of Silent Hill" blog, and would appreciate feedback on it.

Thanks everyone.

Sorry to those of you have read this before.
I had to make a new account do to the fact that im having problems with my email account, and its just terrible.

And before we start there are a couple spoilers in here.
So dont complain if you read something you didn't want to know.

Silent Hill. My favorite gaming series of all time. The first time I got attacked by an air screamer in Silent Hill 1 when I was 6, I was hooked. Why? I really don't know. Maybe if I break down the series, it will help me understand my obsession, and help inform new comers. Let's begin.

Silent Hill (Playstation)

You play as the sensitive Harry, and Harry has a problem. He has lost his daughter. After waking up from a car crash that involved him and his little girl, Cheryl, he finds that well, shes gone. And the town that he was planning on staying in is covered in deep fog. Now I want to keep it brief, so ill cover the main things that make this game so amazing. First, the riddles and puzzles. The first installment of the Silent Hill series is more emphasized on figuring things out instead of combat. But don't get me wrong, there are plenty of creatures to keep you entertained. You have many weapons to keep these creatures off of you; a lead pipe, a pistol, a sawed off shotgun, and a few more. You have to have the volume turned up while playing SH1 also, due to the fact that you have a flashlight in many extremely dark settings, but the light can only reach a few feet. Your radio, that emits a ring when enemies are near, is the way that you know something is coming. The alternate endings in Silent Hill are also extremely entertaining. if you beat the game twice, on your third time through the game in the end, UFOs will shoot Harry and take his body. Due to the fact that this was well received by the gamers, Konami put the ending into 2 & 3.

Silent Hill II (Playstation 2, Xbox, PC)

We now play as James. (I want you to keep in mind that this game is not a sequel.) Now James has been attracted to the interesting city of Silent Hill by a letter from his late wife telling him she is waiting for him in a "special place." Anyways, throughout the game, you will encounter different awesomely disturbing creatures, and you will begin to notice that the second Silent hill game is more combat oriented. You will still be in the same foggy setting in alot of the story, but Konami put in little things that will make you notice that Silent Hill 2 is not that much like the first. All in all, depending on your actions throughout the game, there are 6 different endings. including the famous UFO. This game is like the first, just with updated enemies and weapons, and more awesome puzzles that make you think. Hard.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Silent Hill III (Playstation dose, PC)

Now we play as a girl named Heather. This game is a direct sequel to the first, taking place 17 years after those events. Heather has a weird experience at a shopping mall, and is drawn to Silent Hill. Eventually, she finds out she is a big part of some plans for the towns cult. but I don't want to spoil anything. Heather's past is a mystery, but eventually you find out that she is the matured version of Harry's daughter, Cheryl. (haha spoiler.) There are more bosses in Silent Hill 3 then old players are used to. But I like it. Its still the same amazing survival horror fun that you love about Silent Hill. To show you how epically awesome this game is, Ill tell you first timers a secret. Heather vomits up a god. And then a girl named Claudia swallows it, births it, and then Heather fights it.

Awesome.

Silent Hill IV: The Room (Playstation two; duh)

Ah. Silent Hill 4. Konami decides to branch away from the common Silent Hill style, and I applaud that. You have the pleasure of controlling a man named Henry. Now instead of taking place in the freaky-ass city of Silent Hill, this game takes place in his apartment. And Henry is trying to get out of his apartment. But he cant. And weird things start popping up on his wall. To reach other levels, portals form in the wall. In the first part of the game, its first-person, but you will get to play third person, don't worry.
The main problem that Henry runs into is an immortal serial killer who must kill 21 people. And Henry is his intended 21st kill. So, he teams up with the killers 20th kill, and they try to stop the guy. And so the story progresses. If you are used to the Silent Hill series, dont pick this game up expecting the same deal, Its A LOT different than the first installments, and doesn't include the funny UFO ending. :(

But don't get me wrong, this is a great game. (What a surprise.)

So if you have some stuff you want me to include, or have any questions, just drop me a line.

(I know I need to add Silent Hill: Origins.)
