Did they not allow Gouken? Amazing how different the Japs play - far more defensive than American players. That viper is just sick.
I have no idea whats going on with Gouken. I hear he has a "soft-ban" in Japan(whatever that means).
Wow quick google search taught me a "soft ban" in Japan in terms of fighting games mean he's allowed, but it's highly looked down upon and will get you a pretty bad rep in some cases.
I thought this blog was gonna be about SBO. Know if that's gonna be streamed anywhere? And yeah Japan is basically better pretty much because of the stronger arcade scene.
Also, I hadn't heard of this soft ban on GO. Momochi uses him. GO isn't even near god tier, last I heard it was like 7th or 8th. He was soft banned if not out-right banned in Super Turbo though.
japans rules are fuckin weird. console restrictions, but then people use those characters anyway. weird shit.
@jesus h christ
mmm gouken is not in super turbo maybe you are thinking gouki (akuma).
To my knolededge hes soft banned because hes a boss character.
I've never understood the Akuma soft ban. He an offensive/mixup monster, but he has no stamina.
It's fun to see Diago get played like that. Then he come's here and wins everything...-_-
you just don't know.
You guys are getting gouken and gouki mixed up. Gouken is the big dude with the beard. Gouki is Akuma. Anyway, that's weird- I didn't think Gouken was really THAT unbalanced...?
But I agree though, Japan is way funner to watch, simply because of the crazy good execution.
Didn't Capcom just note that Sagat and Seth were unbalanced (even if they were wrong about Seth). Why would Japan soft-ban Akuma and Gouken? I guess Seth is soft banned too?
Anyway, yea that was a lot of fun to watch. It goes to show you, there are a lot of viable characters in SFIV.
Oh wow I'm an idiot. I was getting Gouken and Gouki confused. :/
But a Gouken ban makes even less sense to me.
Personally, I was surprised to find people using El Fuerte in a tournament setting. I actually kinda liked playing as him when I played a few SF4 matches online.
Momochi vs Ojisanboy
Did you see that combo in round 2 from Momochi?
HK, LP, HK, LP, hurricane kick, uppercut. HOLY. FUCK.
I've never seen that before. Is HK, LP an infinite?
