I have a friend who, for the most part, will only buy new games. Him and I were at our local gamestop a couple weeks ago and I was there to get Call of Duty 4. While we were looking through the games, we decided to get Rainbow Six Vegas 2. I went straight to the used game section, while he went straight to the new game section. The game was probably 10 dollars more, but hey that's always ten dollars I can spend on some PS2, Xbox, or Gamecube game right?
While we were waiting in line, we started talking to the cashiers about upcoming games, Too Human, Gears 2, Rock Band 2, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, etc... Then I mentioned that my friend only buys used games. To this my friend replied,
"Well, I don't like to take any chances I like to buy new games because I know that I'm the first to own it."
But, for me I could care less. I've been going to Goodwill, Salvation army, and Pawn Shops ever since I was a little kid and that's where I get a lot of my most prized possesions like my Epiphone Les Paul Standard 2000, my Line 6 75 watt amp, my Xbox 360, and all my vinyls ranging from AC/DC and the Beatles to Led Zeppelin and The Who and countless games for PS2, GC, PS1, SNES, NES, 360, etc.
After my friend was finished, the Gamestop worker basically told him that a guy came in last night and bought Battlefield Bad Company new for $60 and returned it a couple hours later and only got like $30. But if it would have been used, he could have brought it back and gotten all his money back.
Most of the game I get used are in good condition anyway.
Also I have the Gamestop card that saves me 10% on used games too. So that's cool.
Anyway, Used games > New Games in my opinion, what do you guys think?
