Hey there, back again? Good, I must be doing something right then. Or maybe not. Yesterday was pretty brutal, but we're gonna settle down a bit today. For today is the day of Punkrock. Oh good old Punk. Where to start and where to end? This genre is so diverse it's almost impossible to cover it. From The Sex Pistols to NOFX and from Crass to Dropkick Murphys. It's ridiculous. It started around 1974 and it's still going strong today. Much has changed and much has remained the same. I'm just going to post a couple of my favorite bands because that's what DTunes is about right? I started my week with some Japanese Horror Punk. Now were going to dive deeper into the genre. It's a bloody shame that so little Punk Bands have official video's. Beware of some differences in volume. Punk Bands can't record for shit. Or at least their smelly fans. Now if you would be so kind as to follow me into the realm of Mohawks, safety pins, power chords and 2 minute songs. HEY, HO, LET'S GO!
It took a while before I decided on today's main band. Yesterday and the day before yesterday were easy. But who am I kidding today is just as easy. If you talk about Punkrock you can not get away without mentioning the Ramones.
It would be pretty obvious if I posted song like "Rock 'n' Roll High School" and "Blitzkrieg Bop" but I've heard those songs way too often. Instead I posted a couple of other ones. This blog is too small to post all the great songs by the Ramones. Ramones - We want the Airwaves Album: Pleasant Dreams, 1981. Ramones - Poison Heart Album: Mondo Bizarro, 1992. Ramones - Tomorrow she goes Away Album: Mondo Bizarro, 1992. Joey Ramone - What a Wonderful World Album: Don't Worry About Me, posthumously released in 2002. Don't own a Ramones CD? Well, why don't you just get all their stuff. Or get your hands on this great looking box:
I've got it and it's awesome. But no, In all seriousness, all you need is Ramones - Anthology. Great album packed with Ramones Classics. More info about: Joey Ramone and CBGB's The Ramones in general
From the hell they came… 30 years ago in a small town in New Jersey called Lodi. It was there, at the dawn of the punk movement in April 1977, that the Misfits were born. Taking for their name the title of Marilyn Monroe's final movie, they set out to make an impression. They wound up making history and creating a legacy which has withstood the test of time. Today, boasting a massive catalog of music old and new, a new lineup and an influence felt around the world, the Misfits are generating more interest than ever before. The Pic says enough. Interesting fact is that the vocals on this song are done by Michael Graves. The same guy who sang on the first two Misfits songs I posted above. More info:Official Website Roadrunner United - I don't want to be a Super Hero.
Guttermouth, oh, Guttermouth. What a bunch of weirdos. I've seen them perform once over here in Amsterdam. They swallowed every kind of drugs the audience hurled on stage. I stole the singers shoe and traded it for a T-shirt. He brought only one pair with him. Wikipedia says: They are infamous for their outrageous lyrics and behavior which are deliberately explicit, offensive and intended to shock, though usually in a humorous and sarcastic manner. The were/are banned from performing in Canada for something I don't know, I forgot what it was. The lyrics can be NSFW, but that was to be expected. And if not, I'm sorry. I should've posted some other songs with more shocking lyrics. Guttermouth - High Balls Guttermouth - Diamond Studded Bumble Bee More info here: http://www.xxx-guttermouth-xxx.com
I don't have much to say about BigWig. Because I can't come up with anything other than a Watership Down story. Just listen to them, they're pretty good! More songs:Offical Myspace BigWig - Sink or Swim.
!!WARNING!! THE NEXT VIDEO IS VERY NSFW. Or kind of at least. It probably depends if you live in The Netherlands or not. You can see a couple naked boobies. You've been warned.
The Dwarves, probably even worse (or better) than Gutttermouth. One band member is almost always naked. Want a good laugh? Check out the end of "Deadly Eye". I'm not gonna post it here because I've done more than enough damage by posting this video. (Fact is, I can't find the video, Youtube, Daily Motion etc. Don't want to post it.) More NSFW-ness on Official Website. The Dwarves - Over You.
Good old Bad Religion. Finally some sense after the madness brought by the Dwarves and Guttermouth. Founded in 1980 and still going strong. I posted only one song. Or actually two because Overture is actually a different track on the CD. I love this CD and I think it's their best. More: http://www.badreligion.com/ Bad Religion - Overture + Sinister Rouge
Human Alert is a legendary Dutch Punkband. That's it? Yup, that's it. Nothing more to say. Their official website is down. But they're still playing. According to their Myspace (check their friend list). Human Alert - I Hate People
There is so much to say about this band that I won't. I'll just let you enjoy the video. Which is recorded Live at the PinkPop Festival in The Netherlands, May 19th, 1997 1 - Coolidge 2 - Interview 3 - Everything Sucks + Interview 2. Weird Dutch mud throwing bastards. Official website: http://www.descendentsonline.com/ Descendents - Live at Pinkpop 1997
BONUS VIDEO: Please turn your volume down. I thought this would be a great way to end todays blog but I don't want you to blow up your speakers/ear drums/career. Not a very Punk thing to say, I know. I never said I'm Punk. I'm Takeshi.
Third night done! Now that was the most incomplete and NSFW list of Punkrock! If only I had six days. But it can't be helped. Maybe I'll provide some links to other video's later but I think this should be sufficient for now. Tomorrow some more Metal and Hardcore. I'm looking forward to my last day because it is quite different than all this noise. Yours, Takeshi Dtunes needs you! Please check the sidebar for more info. Can't do a whole week? That's alright, if there are 4 others like you it is still a full week of Dtunes. So sign up and share your music with us! dTunes Google Group

LOL, not really. It's probably even worse.
'I don't wanna be buried...in a pet...cemetery! I don't wanna live my life agaaaain!'
I accidentally clicked on my last video with the volume way up. I might have killed my eardrums and speakers. But you know you're doing something right if the stray dogs outside are barking. LOL, I'm an idiot.
Thanks guys. It looks like Dtoid has some good taste in music.
