About dTunes:
dTunes originally started as a blog in which I would showcase a new band every week. Soon, I moved on to themes. Every video was meant to be suggested by the community, the themes too. Unfortunately, my own personal tastes kept getting in the way. This time I intend to pick a community member from the Google Group that I made (send me your email if you want in) and let them post their favorite music for a week. By getting rid of the middle man (me) I intend on bringing to life my initial image of dTunes, a place where the community can enrich itself and create a better understanding on the individual members of the community by exploring their personal tastes.

Basically, I want to put the unity in community.

dTunes: Kauza’s week, Day 4

Congratulations! You’ve navigated to yet another dTunes day from Kauza! A winner is you! Based on my previous efforts, this is currently the population of those reading this. Regardless, once more unto the breach, dear friends!

Sometimes, I really don’t know how to introduce a band. I’ll struggle to come up with a similar band and utterly fail. I’ll look for categorizations that seem to describe the group, but none of them seems sufficient. Even trying to summarize the basic sonic qualities of the band doesn’t work, as they do tons of different things. So, I’m not going to tell you what this group sounds like. I’ll just kindly tell you to listen. Would you kindly listen to these songs?

Demians

Ahh, Demians. Just hearing the name of this band gets me all hot inside. However, calling Demians a band really isn’t accurate. At its inception, Demians was simply a solo project for French musician Nicolas Chapel, who performs each and every damn instrument and provides vocals on the debut Building an Empire. In itself, this is fairly impressive, but the fact that he can quite skillfully play each of these instruments is really damn amazing. On top of it all, he’s a very skilled songwriter, which is evidenced by the fact that I really can’t compare his music to anything.

Whatever it is, it’s working. Demians received tons of praise when the first album came out, and the second album is highly anticipated. So, before we move on to the music, I’ll offer a quote about the band:

“One of the most assured and accomplished debut albums I’ve ever heard, the textures and dynamics within the music are breathtaking. A must for everyone that appreciates the art of epic and ambitious 21st century rock music.”

Now, songs!

The Perfect Symmetry
Great opener. Very textured sound, and while I usually hate spoken samples in music, I don’t mind it that much here.

Naive
Really happy feel to this song. Very well done.

Temple

Empire
Bigtime WTF with the anime of the next two.

Sapphire

This is definitely one of the best debut albums I’ve ever heard, and now that Chapel has a full band and is working on a new album, I fully expect things to only get better. I think Demians will have a long, awesome career.

That’s it for my penultimate day! See you tomorrow.

@walk: Thanks to you for reading! Or, listening, in this case!

By the way, I just need to mention this now: my post tomorrow (the actual words of it) is shaping up to be the single most ridiculous and absurd thing I've ever written. Even if you don't like the music I feature tomorrow, at least try to get through the article, especially if you're a fan of absurdist humor (god, I hope it's actually funny).
