About dTunes:
dTunes originally started as a blog in which I would showcase a new band every week. Soon, I moved on to themes. Every video was meant to be suggested by the community, the themes too. Unfortunately, my own personal tastes kept getting in the way. This time I intend to pick a community member from the Google Group that I made (send me your email if you want in) and let them post their favorite music for a week. By getting rid of the middle man (me) I intend on bringing to life my initial image of dTunes, a place where the community can enrich itself and create a better understanding on the individual members of the community by exploring their personal tastes.

Basically, I want to put the unity in community.

dTunes: Justice's week, Day 2

Hello again there my fellow Dtoiders, welcome to day 2 of my week. Today I’m going to continue with more videogame music I love as well as some anime soundtracks I enjoy too. Let’s start the show!

Cowboy Bebop OST - Piano Black

After getting into anime from watching Dragonball Z and going to Japan as a kid, I had assumed that most anime was in that sort of style (shonen). It was not until a year or two later when I watched Cowboy Bebop (as well as Gundam Wing) that I realised how amazing anime could be. As a fan of jazz music, the fusion with anime was thoroughly impressive, and the story, characters and action sequences blew my mind. The soundtrack of course worked so well, though Piano Black has to be my favourite track. It’s hard to explain why, the vibrant beat forces me to succumb to it and tap my foot in sequence, the beautiful intro that paves the way for this amazing theme. Honestly, words can’t do this song justice (no pun intended), just listen.

Other tracks from the anime that I recommend:
Tank!

Gundam 00 – Opening Theme 1

As mentioned before, Gundam Wing was the other anime that really made me see the potential that anime has, in terms of story, animation and so much more. Since then I glanced at other series in the Gundam world such as G Gundam and Gundam Seed but became quite interested in Gundam 00 when I heard it was a modern retelling of Gundam Wing. Unfortunately I still didn’t watch the show after that, it was only after a friend highly recommended it that I began watching it. I’m so glad I did, there a few similarities to Wing but it’s easy to see that they are pretty much completely different. This intro theme instantly reminded me of Gundam Wing, especially the last line and does its job well.

I thought nothing could surpass that intro until I reached the latter half of the second season and heard this:

What a tune!

BONUS TRACK!:
The ending theme to the English release of Gundam Wing. Quite possibly one of the best themes ever crafted.

Eden of the East – Opening Theme

Oasis fans (I’m not one though I do think they have a few good songs) will recognize this as “Falling Down” and it surprisingly fits the theme of the show very well. Unfortunately Eden of the East was quite disappointing to me, but that doesn’t stop the theme from being great.

Other great anime intros include:
The Outlaw Star intro theme
The Big O intro theme

PaRappa the Rapper – All Masters Rap

When the PS1 came out I was a Nintendo fan so I obviously asked for a N64 that Christmas. My next door neighbour asked for a PlayStation and a few of my other friends also had one so I managed to experience a few of the great games on them. I played PaRappa the Rapper briefly but it was only until the PSP release that I truly got to experience the game. As a fan of hip-hop I enjoyed it a lot (though some hip-hop lovers didn’t like the game) and this track stood out to me:

Other tracks from the game that I recommend:
The great intro (complete with great intro jingle!).
The intro to the sequel is also definitely worth a look.(Begins around 1:52 into the video)

Super Princess Peach – Giddy Sky 1

Wait I know what most of you are thinking, and let me just say, screw you, Super Princess Peach was a great game, regardless of how easy it was! I got this game for my mother and being a fan of the Mario games I really wanted to play it. I’m glad I did, since it’s a great experience and is different from any other game in the Mario series. As always Nintendo provided a great soundtrack, but the two tracks from the Giddy Sky level really stood out to me. They’re beautiful, and make me reminisce when I listen to them (lame I know but hey, I’m me).

Another track from the game that I recommend:
”Let’s Play A Minigame”. It’s simple but really catchy.

World of Goo - Select Your Goo

Though I haven’t finished World of Goo yet that hasn’t stopped me from appreciating the great soundtrack [url=http://2dboy.com/2009/01/20/world-of-goo-soundtrack-now-available-for-download/](which happens to be free!)[/url).

Other tracks from the game that I recommend:
Captain Of Polka

Apollo Justice OST – Announce the Truth 2007

The Ace Attorney series is notorious for its great soundtracks (heck they even released Jazz and Opera albums of music from that game). With Apollo Justice they crafted another great soundtrack, pretty much every tune, no matter how short is repeat-worthy. However every game there’s always one song that sticks out to me. For Apollo Justice it’s “Announce the Truth 2007”, when I first heard it playing through the game I had to stop, and just enjoy the song. Again it’s difficult to say it stood out to me, perhaps it’s because the beat reminds me of an old hip hop song (Notorious Thugz by B.I.G. and Bong Thugz), or maybe it’s just the addictive melody.

Other tracks from the game that I recommend:
Lamiroir – Sound of a Landscape Artist
Ace Attorney 4 – Trial
Apollo Justice - Start of a New Trial!
Klavier Gavin - Guilty Love
Search - Opening 2007

Sonic Advance 3 – Sunset Hill Act 1

As mentioned I was a Nintendo kid for all my childhood, so my only experience of Sonic (apart from the cartoons) was my neighbours Mega Drive and I played that only a few times. It was not until the Sonic Advance series (& Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on GC) that I really got to experience the world of Sonic. Sonic Advance was superb, as were its sequels (and Sonic Rush). Though I hardly got to play the Sonic games as a kid, I always remembered the Green Hill Zone theme from Sonic the Hedgehog and Emerald Hill Zone theme from Sonic 2. Thus when I got to Sunset Hill in Sonic Advance 3 for the first time, all my memories of the original game and my life around came flooding back and I gleefully hummed the tune, it really is a great remix.

Other tracks from the game that I recommend:
Stage 6:Cyber Track Zone - Act 1
Stage 6:Cyber Track Zone - Act 2

The All Masters Rap was so epic. Definitely the most memorable part of that game for me.

Great choice of musics. Mentioning jazz and anime reminded me of Michiko to Hatchin. If you haven't seen that anime at least listen to the intro ^.^ I love the entire cowboy bebop osts and looking at my ipod now I can see that the top 3 tracks I listen to are Piano Black(Ian Obrien Remix), NY Rush and Time to Know ~ Be Waltz.

Thanks guys, Senisan82 I'll be sure to check it out.

WAIT. Oh my gosh! I knew there was a song I was missing. Time to Know ~ Be Waltz! That song is incredible, I have to thank you for reminding me of that song, I haven't heard it in years!

OK sorry for the double comment, but after reminding myself of NY Rush I have to agree with you about that song too! It's like we're on the same wavelength or something!
