About dTunes:
dTunes originally started as a blog in which I would showcase a new band every week. Soon, I moved on to themes. Every video was meant to be suggested by the community, the themes too. Unfortunately, my own personal tastes kept getting in the way. This time I intend to pick a community member from the Google Group that I made (send me your email if you want in) and let them post their favorite music for a week. By getting rid of the middle man (me) I intend on bringing to life my initial image of dTunes, a place where the community can enrich itself and create a better understanding on the individual members of the community by exploring their personal tastes.
Last day, dTunes! It's time for some video game awesomeness!
Song: "Murder Your Friends Boogie" by JigginJonT and the Bad Dudes Source: Bean Ball theme, Super Dodge Ball (NES)
The Bad Dudes are a team of OverClocked remix vets, bound together to release their remixes in album form. They've released half a dozen LPs and EPs now, their most recent being the physically-sold-out Chronotorious. This track is from their tribute to the most well-known unknown NES game of all time, Super Dodge Ball. The result: "No Balls, No Glory", a track-by-track tribute to whacking people with your balls.
Song: "Neighburgers" by Protricity Source: Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES, Genesis)
Another remix from another underrated soundtrack, it's a crime that more of the cheesily epic songs from this cult classic haven't been exploited more by the rich VG remixing community.
Song: "Harden the Duck Up" by norg Source: The Moon theme, Ducktales (NES)
The single best complete song from the NES era gets its best coat of paint here, as OC remix's norg adds some wicked power-ballad wails to the catchy melody.
Song: "Look What You've Done" by Megatainment Source: Dr. Wily themes 1 and 2 and Ending theme, Mega Man (NES)
Entertainment System turns game tunes into brain-melting speed metal. The Megas turn Mega Man into lyrical poetry. Put the two of them together, and you get a quartet of hardcore Mega Man 1 tunes with an emotional depth you'd never expect from an NES soundtrack. This piece single-handedly inspired my Monthly Musing.
Song: "The Will of One" by the Protomen Um, it's the Protomen. What else do I need to say? Buy their new album already.
That about wraps it up for my week here at dTunes. I'd like to thank RonBurgandy2010 for the opportunity to share my (at times obsessive) musical tastes with the community. Have a great weekend, Dtoid!
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
