Contains SPOILERS... sort of...

Those familiar with Last Remnant have noticed how unevenly the game plays. I am very new to the concept of forced side questing to be able to come even close to beat one of the bosses or "battles" the game offers on disc 2. Leveling to beat a boss is not unusual - rather a principle in the industry, yet when you are, for the first time, facing players with a new battle system you should go a bit easy.

Plowing through 5 side quests, clocking in around 2 hours, I got one fucking "battle level". The absurdity of this game compared to its strenghts makes me almost want to beat the disc into the wall. Tetusya Nomura better bring versus XIII to me soon before I declare our relationship over. There will be name calling, weeping and throwing of cuttlery - but if she's not the one I fell in love with anymore, we will be better off taking seperate paths.

Also, the "Gates of Hell" should be ranked among one of the most asholish game design moves of 2008.

Haven't played the game yet, but it sounds frustrating.

I hate bad RPG's, there should be a law that prohibits bad RPGs by death.

I hope the PS3 version of this game is a lot better. I kind of was looking forward to this game.

It is a broken rpg that expects you to spend more hours on a gamefaqs board trying to figure wtf is going on than actually playing it.
Your BR rises depending on how hard it was to fight something
ive raised it three levels off one 5 min fight

Btw you want your BR as low as humanly possible, The enemies adjust their stats depending upon it, which is assinine because your stats level up not because of your BR but ala FF2, getting almost killed helps your health, beating things over and over ups the strength.

To even get to the second disc your BR has to be below 30 or above 45, or hells gate will do a nasty AOE move specific to that BR range, that can and will kill everyone you have ever known.

And if your that upset about hells gate please for your own sake dont even attempt the Base fights, as that after a 90 minute fight against over 50 unions and a dragon, you get to fight an arbitrary general that instant kills a union a round and there isnt shit you can do about.

so yeah.

This is why I've always disliked Square Enix in general. Ok, I'm being mean. This is why I've always disliked RPGs in general. I'd play a game like Zelda 64 and bust my ass trying to do some big side quest, and the game actually rewards me with a skulltula that can be used to gain a bigger wallet or some game changing item. Or it rewards my keen eye or determination by giving me a piece of heart than can be used to make the game easier for me in the long run. Then I'd play a Final Fantasy game and I'd find a secret part of town or some hidden wall in a castle or even some big side quest, and all of that for what? A treasure chest that gives me a friggin Phoenix down? A PHEONIX DOWN?! Are you fucking kidding me? How can such a prestigious game company not know how to reward players. How can a genre go out of its way to piss off its players so badly? "Be sure to . . . drink your . . . Ovaltine." YOU MOTHERFUCKERS!!!

It's simpler to just pour something sticky over your self and have dipp into a bag of milled cocoa beans.

I have acutally tried the base fights. I got the first boss after just sitting around and just doing "..but...why..." gestures for myself when my unions got ass-raped. And this is the kicker - I have done a quest for the god damn boss - here I thought be were buddies and now he want's to kill me... Alos, fucking "regular" dragons are easy compared to some of the story stuff - figures.
