Part 1: The Early Years
PC Gaming
But then something happened... I became this huge computer geek (yeah... I know... shocker). The Nintendo, and consoles in general, became to kiddie for me. And oh how I wish I could go back and kick my ass from there to Timbuktu for thinking that. So I saw no love on the SNES, N64, PSX, PS2, Genesis, Saturn, TurboGrafx-16, and not one fucking handheld... ahh... what a fucktard I was! However I hadn't given up on gaming, I did get into lots of PC gaming.
PC gaming had always been in my life from the glory days of Drug Wars to the Sierra Quests to the ImagiNation Network. After the asshole move of no more consoles the PC system took on a whole new life. I saved up a crap ton of money to get the latest hardware (which was a 486DX 66Mhz).
During the PC years, I did alot of Not-Couriering for BBS's. If you don't know what that means, it means I am old, and did stuff before there were Not-R4's, and before there was an internet. These were good times, spent with some of the games that founded genre's.
Most of what I loved during these days were Strategy games. I remember Not-Downloading Dune II, and being in total awe of this game. Before Dune II I was in love with things like Sim City and Civilization. When I realized that I could control units in real time, I was hooked, not to mention the game was based on one of the best SciFi books ever. RTS's were my crack for the next few years, Warcraft 2 and Command and Conquer being the pinnacle. I can still here the 'Ready to Serve' 'Yes Mi Lord' sound bites from the grunts in Warcraft 2. And I could play these on a LAN against a friend... oh the LAN parties that were had when these gems came out were legendary. But then things got even darker after this...
Favorites during the PC only gaming years:
Sim City
MechWarrior
Civilization
Master of Orion
Dune II
X-COM
Syndicate
Warcraft 2
Command and Conquer
Heroes of Might and Magic
Jagged Alliance
Part 3: The Dark Ages
I played doom, but got headaches.
Jedi Knight was after this period, and didn't really have a huge effect on my anyways (but you will see why in the next article).
And I missed daggerfall.
@Shipero
I was a strategy bitch...
I played Myst, but not all that much, never played 7th guest... and I can't even remember the first CD game I played (damn... thats sad).
Requiem: Avenging Angel
I loved that game.
It wasn't until the PS1 came out that I really got back into console gaming, and even then my love for consoles has just never been the same as my love for PCs.
Too many star wars... I assumed you ment Dark Forces which kicked off the Jedi Knight series... it was in '95, so I guess that is at the end of the time that I was looking at... but I must have just passed on it given the FPSness off it and my killer headaches that I got.
And also Duke Nukem I guess, but I never really liked that game either.
