As someone who is now looking to rekindle some of my lost youth... I have a little advice for you young'ens, keep your shit. No matter what new kickass system comes out, no matter how lame the old graphics it might seem, keep it. And for you dad's out there please keep it for your kids if they are too stupid (or young) to do it for themselves. When I was young (before I really got into gaming) I collected baseball cards. I also had this one uncle who always told me to hold onto them for dear life. My grandmother had given away all his cards, which he said included some Mickey Mantles, and other such people from that era. I took this to heart, and to this day I still have them all, and in excellent condition. For some reason thought when it came to video games, I was a tool, and kept nothing. I would just move from one system to then next thinking to myself, "Why would I ever want to play this old crap any more?" Now... I am spending way too much time and money rebuilding my old collections. Some may say that this rebuilding phase is fun. While they are right, I would much rather be expanding on what I had then playing with someone else's box of memories. This fathers day weekend was good, and the video gaming gods shined down upon me. One of the retro gaming stores near me was going out of business and I was able to scam a nice 1/2 off everything I wanted. They didn't have alot, but it was still a good haul, and an awesome fathers day gift. The bad thing about it though, is that store will no longer be there, which sucks. Anyways, here is what I got for $90:
Wait... what is that thing in the upper left hand corner?
Yes, that is a fucking R2D2 Mr Potato head! NES games: Dragon Warrior Excitebike The Adventures of Bayou Billy Dr. Mario RC Pro-Am (This game probably explains one of my other hobbies) Q-bert Silent Service (I don't remember if this was any good, but I remember owning it) Jackel In the box items: Tetris Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (FTW) SNES: SNES Mini system Super Tennis (for me and the wife) Super Mario World Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure Mario Paint (for the kids)

From the look of it this weekend you did a pretty good job grabbing some NES and SNES classics. It appears you had a great Father's Day. Are you planning on showing your kids how to play these new games, once they finally move on past the Sesame Street game they are playing now?
@EliteChief: ... damn ... no ... crap ...
Dang it.
Whenever I buy old games nowadays (I used to rent NES/SNES/Genesis games 90% of the time), it feels like I'm buying back my childhood.
Yeah it wasn't until this past generation that I finally decided, no selling anything back. Though technically I did give my Cube to my in-laws....but I plan to steal it back. Wii may be BC but I miss the Cube's charming cubiness on my desk.
One of my most shameful memories as a gamer is straight up trading my SNES for another guy's NES. I REALLY to play Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!
My SNES and GB were my first consoles and I still have them safely tucked away. Join them in hiding from the dust are my Saturn, DC, PS1, N64, GP32, GC, GBA, Xbox and PS2.
Now when I'm old and grey, I'll know I'll never be bored, so long as my fingers are still as nimble.
