If you venture outside of Dtoid to Japanator or Tomopop, there is a likely chance you know what Oneechanbara is. No its not just a line of figures otaku geeks collect... and touch, nor is it a Japanese B movie, it is a probably crappy, yet entertaining as hell video game series.
What is Oneechanbara you ask? Well, picture this. Take violent adventure games like Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry, and God of War, take away their fluidity, add a girl from Dead or Alive, give her a sword, and surround her by zombie freaks that would make even Frank West question his experience in covering wars (you know?) That in essence is Oneechanbara.
But really, its the tale of two sisters who... are from a different mother... or father... and one hated the other... but doesn't now... I don't know, but there are zombies and one is always in a bikini and the other is dressed up as a Japanese school girl for all you fetish freaks out there. In essence its a hack and slash adventure that were among D3's budget titles in Japan. After the release of EDF2017 outside of Japan, many wanted D3 to localize the equally as campy Oneechanbara vorteX for the 360, but never did. But now, for some reason the Wii is the one to get it's Oneechanbara game localized.
Thanks to Games Radar it is now confirmed that Oneechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers (known as Revolution in Japan) will be hitting US and UK stores in early 2009. And like the truly terrible name says, it has bikinis and it has zombie slaying.
It's probably going to be terrible, but you know what? By only standards, EDF was a terrible game yet everyone loved it. Like hell I'm going to miss this one.
Here is a trailer to show off all the zombie bikini action
FUCK YEAH, FINALLY. I've wanted to play this since this was japan release but since now that this is coming; i'm definitely going to buy this. Now i have something to look forward to for my nintendo wii.
I just hope they have good control and control options. Multiple control options IS A MUST for Wii games, gawd >_>
definitely. I actually was emailing D3 of America asking them to bring Oneechanbara Vortex to the US. Hopefully they still can after this one comes out.
