Spore broke my heart.

I used Windows for my entire life up until this last year, which is when I switched to Mac OS X. This change is due to numerous things, 1. my laptop getting some how raped by viruses I never knew I had or downloaded. 2. Going to a school that is very heavily Mac based. 3. being in a major that practically requires use of Macs (Digital Post Production major, Final Cut, all that mess.)

I've found OS X to generally be better than XP in nearly every way, shape, and form. I can do pretty much every thing I was able to do on my PC, hell I even have my wireless 360 controller hooked up to my Mac. The only thing Macs don't do as well as PCs, is obviously games. But, I'm more of a console gamer than PC so, I don't mind the least bit. And the only PC games that I want this year are coming out for Mac anyways (Spore, Starcraft II) so I'm set.

Like many people who follow Spore in the news know that next week, EA is launching the Spore Creature Creator in two forms, a demo that has 25% of the content of the retail one ($9.95) which includes all the creature parts of the full game. I originally was just going to download the demo, but after watching the following video, I was sold on the full thing.

So today I realized that the release was a week away and I went to the Spore site just to confirm everything. I see that you are able to pre order it so I was just clicking around to see whats up. I decided to look at the system reqs just out of habit and saw something disturbing.

What the!? GAH! Fuck! Damn it, damn it, damn it. THIS IS RACISM I TELL YA! That or I just got owned. Now I figure this is one of two things. It's either I'm fucked in the digital download area or a misprint due to the retail version of the creature creator listing it both Windows and Mac compatible. I emailed EA support in hopes that I could get a response, but I'm not counting on anything.

Worst case scenario is that I have to get the retail one, which... is a pain in the ass. Either way, I'm getting this one way or another. If I can't download it on Mac, I'm low enough on gas, and it's 100 degrees, I'll just download it to my parent's desktop and swallow my pride as if I was going back to an abusive ex because I've found out that despite the emotional torture I suffered through for many years, the only way I will ever be satisfied is through their forceful and dominating personality.

Hmm... graphic metaphor. Meh.

If you have a powerful mac you might be able to emulate XP and run it. The odds are against you though

Either that or grab a cheap 2GHz pc from Ebay. You can probably get an entry level one for less than 300 bucks if you poke around. Also check got-apex.com; they sometimes have throwaway Dells for peanuts

As Dan said, Boot Camp has really taken the wind out of native Mac releases. I would strongly recommend Boot Camping as a gamer, why you could even play XNA games like AMMO :-D

Well I don't have an extra copy of windows to use on boot camp, plus it is more effort than I'm willing to do just for the creature creator.

And, I think driving to a store to pick up the disc version of the creator will be a far better investment than buying a PC off of ebay.

Yes, Macs are better than PCs in every way, EXCEPT FOR THE GAMES. Enjoy your expensive paper weight.

Mac? HAHAHAHA I laugh in your face.

PROTIP: If you want a Mac so bad, but also want to play games, 2 computers is the way to go. PC parts have never been cheaper, building your own PC is extremely cost effective right now

@Yashoki

Well I wouldn't call it a paper weight in my case since I barely do PC gaming at all.

@King

I have a mac right now, and the only two PC games I want to play are Spore and Starcraft II, both of which are coming for the Mac, I'm set thanks.
