Yeah, uh gotta agree with Reaprar. This was fun when it was called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Also, I remember when True Crime: Streets of LA took a few in-game shots at GTA and Rockstar and look how that game turned out.

The thing is Saints Row 2 is looking to be straight up dumb fun and in comparison to GTA where its... Chase this guy and shoot him, or kill this guy, or that guy. It all blends together especially when a bunch of the missions play exactly the same. After about two weeks I was just bored out of my mind with GTA. The game is great, I'm not going to deny that, it is well polished, written, and put together. But all that shit doesn't mean... well it doesn't mean shit when it's boring to play, and GTAIV just became a chore for me basically. I went itno it like "gah I have to get farther in the story" I never went into it saying "Well I'm going to just go shoot everything" Like I would in all the other GTAs.

Saints Row isn't ashamed to be a "white trash GTA", I think there is room for both.

like I learned at GameCamp (not what it sounds like), "there is no longer a such thing as an original concept anymore"......................except for bioshock.................................and Portal
(I know this is 25% untrue, but think think about the other 75 or more %, and a lot of those are good solid games)

uh anyway, the game does look pretty bleh graphicwise. I can't say GTAIV was all that fun. But it could be because I haven't tried playing the damn game. I dunno what it is, but GTA IV just lacks compared to the past games.

I don't plan on getting SRII...but I never did plan on getting GTAIV but hey, look where it's got me.

@EDS: I feel they do considering Rockstar took so much out of their series that made it fun in the first place. Now SR2 is going back and adding even more insane stuff to do to make it fun for people.

Maybe the story won't win any awards but at least people will have smiles on their faces as they play it. GTAIV is a chore, not a fun game.

@Shin Oni: Have you played GTAIV recently? The graphics really aren't that great. Sure the framerate is pretty solid but that's easy to accomplish when there's still just as much pop-up as in the PS2 days and there are as many jaggies as there are in the game.

Cutscenes may be pretty but cruising around the city is straight up fugly in day time. Look at the shadows. They fucking wreak of disgust.

First off, I'm a huge GTA fanboy. I've enjoyed them all, and I'm still enjoying GTA IV. The way I compare the two games is GTA IV is a smart crime movie, like Snatch. It has a huge cast of characters, an awesome story, and has tongue-in-cheek humor. Saints Row is like a big budget Michael Bay film. Its over the top, the story doesn't matter, and it is just mindless explosions and fancy special effects. Not saying that Saints Row 2 doesn't look fun. I had really liked the first Saints Row. But I'll be pleasantly surprised if it is BETTER than GTA IV. Then again, I am a huge GTA IV fanboy. I'm almost as bad as a Nintendo fanboy when it comes to GTA games.
