Today I woke up at 8:20. Instead of saying a multitudes of swears I remembered "HEY ITS XBLA WEDNESDAY!" (not that excited really) and spent my already purchased 1200 points on the glorious Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
God I really don't know where to start in this game. I'm the kind of player who, when I get a fighting game, I like to spend a day or two in practice mode memorizing stuff for each character and what not. But the lovely people at Capcom have decided to bombard me with EVERY character unlocked already. So I'm sitting here with a team of just randoms thinking "oh good lord, this will take a while."
And it doesn't help that I hardly know what I'm doing with this game in the first place. The last time I played this game was YEARS and YEARS ago in the arcade, where... to put bluntly, I sucked and sucked HARD. I had no idea what I was doing then. Fucking move the joystick and press buttons, that's it. I might have played it on a friend's console a few times here and there, but never enough to know what I'm doing. And well, I'm not that better off now.
But who cares about my skill, the fact that this game is here is just awesome. Thank you Capcom, thank you for being cool motherfuckers. I posted a blog a couple of months ago about how Capcom was my favorite publisher for current gen games, and I have to say that their publishing of XBLA/PSN games ranks among my top favorites in that category as well. I guess it helps that Capcom has such a large back catalog of awesome games compared to others. Speaking of which you know two games I'm surprised have not been released as downloads?
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Seriously. How is this not out already? But I just have to assume it will come eventually.
and anything in the Darkstalkers series. I don't know which was the one I played and really loved, I think it was Vampire Savior 1. That game was awesome (I think) and would fit nicely in Capcom's list of downloadable games.
Regardless, buy MvC2. I shouldn't have to tell you, but its just a great game, possibly the best fun I've had in practice mode in years. Oh, and I hear its pretty good when you play against people too.
It's good for fans of the game that can't get it anywhere else, but personally I am far more excited about the upcoming Tatsunoko VS Capcom release.
Stay away from Magneto, Storm and Sentinel while you have your MVS virginity. If you want to dabble in easy godliness, try Cable out and use his pistol pistol pistol into hyper viper beam cancel and go "OMG SO CHEAP!"
Other than that just try your favorite characters until you get your ass kicked by them. Eventually, you'll only be able to pick around 10-15 characters.
Also, you're going to be waiting more than a day. Everywhere on the internet says it hits for the PSN on August 13th :(
I'm glad to see that my man Akuma made his way onto the little icon for the game.
well it is less than 200mb? Unless you mean its one of those downloads that EVERYONE downloads at the same time, thus causing Xbox Live to crash.
I totally agree. I love MvC2, but I've played it to death. I want Tatsunoko vs Capcom bad.
@JLanphear
I heard that shit.
@Everyone else
Sakura/Wolverine/Juggernaut = Rape
I don't know why to play with, but it's not too important cause I suck anyway.
