So the Fable II Pub games came out today. Thinking it was a clever idea that Lionhead was giving you the option to get a head start on your bankroll prior to the release of Fable II, I decided to pick it up. Now in it's essence, it's still a good idea, too bad you're going to be starting Fable II in the red.
If you go to any forum about the game, the general thought expressed mostly is "I'M IN DEBT XXXX GOLD!" Yeah, these are casino style games that are random, but are fucking BRUTALLY random. I've minimized my losses by doing one thing, walking away. It is so insanely hard to make money in this game that it's an almost guarantee that if you merge your Fable II avatar with your pub games one, that you're going to be like a college graduate up to their eyes in debt. The only solution to your debt I could think of depends on the possibility of their being a NPC bookie that handles your debt. If there is, arrow in the back of the fucking head, and MY Fable II debt problems will be solved. First chance I get, it's gonna happen.
But to be fair, playing these games is like being that especially dangerous drunk where you don't realize how drunk you are and that "just one more" mentality comes around... about 3 times. it's just so easy to keep thinking "oh come on, I'll just go one more round" and then, FAIL! You lose, more debt for you. This got me thinking, I'd be fucking terrible in Vegas. Not only because I apparently suck at gambling, but added to that there is one thing
VODKA
And I'm not talking your $15 a handle shitty college vodka you put through a brita water pitcher to make it suck a little less (Jenkins, Popov, ect) I'm talking GOOD Vodka. That lubrication, if you will, and the "one more" mind set I've found thanks to Pub Games is nothing but a recipe for disaster.
So to sum it up, here's to starting Fable II in debt!
But the card game? You can finesse that a little. I'm enjoying that, and, once the pre-order code curfuffle is resolved, I'm probably going to pre-order Fable two and get my Full Download on.
But you can only get the starting $ from going broke once or twice an hour; or something like that.
Then set it up where you can only transfer the money to your fable char once every other day; or something like that. To prevent people from exploiting going back & forth between the games to rack up free $ in fable.
Protip: don't play Spinnerbox. It looks entirely random.
...That is of course if it was attainable to get any sort of money with these games.
but I could only manage to keep at my starting of 100
Of course, I have no intention of actually giving this money to my character from the get go. That would take all the fun out of it in my opinion.
