A Wii Ware Must: Harvest Moon
covah | 4:46 PM on 05.13.2008 4 comments

Come on, what other series would be more perfect for WiiWare than Harvest Moon? NONE! That's what. Harvest Moon has always been most popular on Nintendo consoles and would probably do just as well on the downloadable circuit.

Now, I know that Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility is scheduled for release in July (but god damn it Natsume is the worst publisher and I wouldn't be surprised if they pushed it back) but thats not the kind of Harvest Moon I would like to see on the WiiWare service... well in a sense.

Not since Magic Melody (I've realized the stupidness that I'm about to say but will continue on) has there been a top down console Harvest Moon (let alone any console Harvest Moon, that was it) and Magic Melody sucked. I would really like to see a top down, simple Harvest Moon, much like Island of Happiness coming out for the DS in June (again Natsume, please disappoint me because if you didn't, my fragile view of the world would be destroyed.)

A simple top down Harvest Moon would be perfect for the Wii Ware service. All you would need to do is take a bit of this

add a bit of waggle from this

and you've got this!

Now, there may be hope for this idea. Based on a wikipedia page tells me, there is an Online Harvest Moon in the works. Only problem is, no one knows what its for. I'm willing to guess PC is down on lock and if I had to take two shots in the dark I'd say XBLA and PSN releases would also be possible. I for one don't see this as a packaged release and due to its online focus (or so it seems) I'd guess it would be on XBLA and PSN for the superior online. Then again... this is Wikipedia. But I have heard of this some time last year, and while a XBLA HM game (which I've also always wanted) would be welcomed in my books, I would really also like to see a WiiWare HM game as well.

Here's to hopes for more new Harvest Moon!

I like Harvest Moon 64 and that Fantasy Harvest Moon for DS. Great games. Last few had some game-destroying glitches.

Me and my girlfriend loved Magical Melody! There was so much to do, and you had all the time in the world to do it. It was also much more goal oriented since you could try to go for all 100 notes. Tired of having such a small back pack? Time to set some goals! First, build a barn, next buy some sheep and some sheers, then buy a yarn maker and a dye pot, finally go pick some flowers. Use this to make dyed yarn and give it to the old lady... keep doing this until she likes you enough to make you a bigger bag! Now you can go into the mine and bring back more gems, or plant more crops because you're not always going back and forth because you ran out of room in your bag. Magical Melody is, in my experience, the best Harvest Moon game to date.
