I know, I know, horrible pun is horrible, sue me. Anyways, Gamecock's first console release, Hail to the Chimp, is shipping a week from today for the PS3 and 360. What is Hail to the Chimp? Well if you want a really detailed analysis, Mr. Chester can explain it to you, or if you want a cut and dry version, I'll let you know. It's Power Stone, except you play as animals, with a political campaign for the setting. Sounds weird right? Well it is. But it is also really fun. Like, really. I got a chance to get a hands on experience with it at EIEIO, and I was expecting a shallow family game, but there are a ton of game modes, unlockables, the political commentary/satire is great, and the arena-style fighting is fresh. I don't know what price point the game is being released to, but if it is anything below $59.99, I suggest you get it. The 4-player battles should make this a great Friday Night Fight game. I have provided the achievements below(in white text for those who don't want "spoilers"), with the latest hi-res screens below them.

Fuck it, it's a party game. If I come here 10+ times a day, just how many friends do you think I have? STOP MOCKING ME!!!!!! I'm gonna go cry in the corner :.(
Check the 3 reviews, GI said it sucked. EGM on the other hand said it had potential, but it's not quite there.
Looking at those scores and considering other games I've bought that scored in the 5 to 7 range, I'm not buying this. Partly because I can't afford new games right now, but also because it may not be worth it. Though, like you said, if it's a cheaper game, under 60 bucks, then perhaps it may be a good value.
Oh, and the official site tells me that it is a "fighting/racing game"
Sounds like a minigame collection tacked onto what is probably a good but not fleshed out enough fighting component. We'll see....
Oh, and yes, reviews do matter. They certainly sway me at this point in my life.
"HEY LOOK AT US! We hate the mainstream big business of the game industry so we're going to talk a lot of shit and act like snobby assholes to the industry? Good games? What the fuck does that have anything to do with us trying to be cool?"
That is Gamecock's mentality summed up pretty nicely. They have no base to say anything or act like they're big shit.
I've been unimpressed with Gamecock's general attitude, and the reviews for the game thus far pretty much confirm much of my fears. If you're going to talk the talk, my friend, you're going to need to walk the walk.
@some jerk
Are you talking to me? If so, it's the "same difference," in my opinion. A publisher is just as responsible for putting out crap, as the developer is for creating it. Gamecock's been crowing pretty loudly for a while, but they've yet to back it up with substance.
That's weird, because the Simpsons episode that I watched last night had Homer going to see a "Hail to the Chimp" movie at the drive-in, when he should have been destroying Moe's car for the insurance money.

A game company with cock in its name can't make bad games. That's what I think.

Did you say Power Stone? I wasn't interested before but I am so there now.
Pre;imenary reviews have said this game is like Fusion Frenzy except with everything that was fun with that game extracted. Basically bad reviews.
Power Stone and this game shouldn't be in the same sentence.
If it's priced around $40, I'll definitely pick this one up.
Yoj1mbo the problem with that statement is that Fusion Frenzy is a minigame collection and Hail to the Chimp is a fighting game.

@OGU
you must not be familiar with Gamecock's line up.

i'm surprised. this game looks a lot better then i pegged it for.
If GameCock can't nail this one, then I think they're basically on the verge of my officially saying "Fuck off" to them.
Gamecock isn't making this, Wideload (crators of Stubbs the Zombie) are. Gamecock is only a publisher.
word on the skreet (and by the "skreet" I mean the internet) is that this game blows loads.

Gamecock were those guys who interrupted Ken Levine on that awards show right?

"Simpsons already did it"
