NARCS.
Damn dirty narcs. This is just all kids of wrong in my book. I mean, I know piracy isn't exactly the most ethical thing you could do, but telling people they could make millions by turning in their friends who they know have not-so-legal copies. They're going to give you a million dollars? Ha fucking ha.
While researching the company behind these ads, I learned this isn't the first time they have used underhanded tactics like this. They publish an annual piracy study to show how much they are losing from pirates, which have been panned by critics as "unworthy of a first year student of statistics".
The above NARC producing ad isn't the only one. According to Wikipedia "Among the more provocative approaches BSA has taken is the Bust Your Boss! campaign that has appeared on billboards, printed publications and on the Internet with the following suggestion: "Is your current or former employer using pirated software in their office? Hit 'em where it really hurts - report their illegal software use today."" Yes, show your employer how loyal you are by reporting him, and lose your sorry job in one fell swoop! Good thinking assholes. This shit just makes me sick.
I love the netherlands. They legalise prostitution and the like and then try to clamp down on software piracy. When will they learn.
The NES one was the shit. Kinky Pinky gave me nightmares for a week back in the day.
The fact is it costs thousands and thousands of dollars for licenses; they are ridiculously expensive. My boss is paying something like 40 thousand dollars a year just for our Adobe software, we also have business license for XP and Office. Having 100% legitimate copies of software is just not doable for anyone other than high profit companies.
