Oh my dear lord it finally ships this week!!! I pre-ordered this book way back in December and was oh so disappointed when they delayed the release in February... I love the Sega Genesis, I never owned one as a kid but always wanted one. If you read my previous blog you would see I just recently picked up a Genesis and a nice haul of games still in their boxes with manuals at my local good will. Well today I decided to drop into Ed Mckays (local used everything store) and another treasure trove of Genesis games awaited me!


First up we have all 3 Phantasy Star's released for the Genesis still in the boxes with manuals. all for about $8 each.

I figured that's all I'm buying don't see anything else worth owning. Then I happen to glance down at the bottom of the shelf and see these...



I almost shit my pants, ROCKET KNIGHT FUCKING ADVENTURES AND GHOULS 'N GHOSTS!!!!!! The fond memory I have of these 2 games is immense, I've beaten RKA more times than I can count but its one of the best games ever made. I've never beaten Ghouls 'N Ghosts unfortunately that game is for masochists, but it still doesn't change that fact that its damn fun. RKA was priced at a reasonable $8 and GNG was $6.

Oh and where the fuck can I have these!?

So I was finished for the night looking at all the new dtoid stuff when I decided to head over to gametab.com to see what the top stories were. The #1 story right now is still that lesbian who got banned from xbox live. It's the 1up article of it. There is this one guy in the comments who is so fucking funny it had to be posted here.

n0gar starts his post out as most narrow minded bigots do, name calling, derogatory terms.

After purchasing this bad boy about 4 months back I was sorely disappointed by a few things. First thing I never really liked was the design but I figured whatever functionality over looks. That was until I got home and plugged it in and soon realized the stick only rotates in a square instead of a octagon which I hate and think its impossible to do any moves in a fighting game being restricted to square movements. So after letting the thing collect dust for the past 4 months since I'm lazy and never return things I don't like, I came across some websites about modding the EX 2. Needless to say I jumped on the opportunity, never soldering anything in my life I went to Radio Shack and purchased the tools. After my buttons and new octagonal restrictor plate came I went to work. I also changed the cover art and spray painted the plastic to a match. Enough with this crap though on with the pics!

Finished product, came out good but I should have placed a clear coat over the paint. Oh well, its sexy none the less.

And no first soldering job would be complete without battle scars, this fucking hurt btw.

I used Seimitsu buttons, the restrictor plate and bat top for the joystick are Sanwa. Purchased from Lizard Lick Amusements, And I used this tutorial here.

So I was in the area the other day and decided to stop in my local Goodwill not really expecting to find anything and low and behold I find this shit... why someone would throw away such awesome things is beyond my comprehension!


All this was wrapped in packing tape with a $40 price tag... how could I resist! Not ever owning a Genesis in my life I felt the need to expand my retro collection.


Then I saw these babies behind the glass for a couple bucks a peice, sure they are all mostly shovelware aside from gargoyles which no its not based on the old disney cartoon. Just noticed now its hard to make out what the gameboy games are, from left to right: Duck Tales, Capcom Gargoyles, Skate or Die Tour De Thrash, and Bart Simpson's Escape From Camp Deadly.

So needless to say stopping in your local goodwill at least once every two weeks is probably a good way to stumble on some awesome retro goodness.

And now a little something from the land of the rising sun I picked up on E-Bay and just got to me today.


Cost me $208 after it was all said and done, but let me remind you if you look on ebay its selling for close to $400 used and this one is basicly in brand new condition, everything was still wrapped in the original plastic like it had never been touched. Needless to say my tax return is almost gone now from all this retro goodness and I've still got more genesis games on the way from ebay.
