I think I may be the luckiest person alive right now considering what I just found at my local Goodwill. But before I get into that let me show you the latest stuff I've found in the last few months. Most of this stuff I got at Ed Mckays used books. Which I doubt anyone outside of North Carolina knows about since they only have about 5 stores in the state itself mostly in major cities.
First up we have some PS2 games I've been wanting to get my hands on, the first 2 I actually had to acquire from playasia, the 3rd I found at gamestop.
Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix +, Final Fantasy X International, and God Hand(Another amazing Clover title).
Next up we've got some PSX games mostly were cheap($5-$10), all but one were acquired at Ed Mckays.
Legend of Dragoon, Jade Cocoon, Final Fantasy VII GH :*(, Final Fantasy VII International(PlayAsia) :D, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Vandal Hearts, and NO ONE CAN STOP MR. DOMINO!!!!!! :D
Oh and this.
WING FUCKING COMMANDER FOR SEGA CD FOR A WHOPPING $1!!
Now on to the good stuff, I hit up my local goodwill earlier today, noticed they had a box with a Dreamcast in it and a stack of games all selling for $45. Well I'm broke as fuck right now and I already own a Dreamcast so I asked if I could just purchase some of the games, they said it was a package deal but I was welcome to ask the manager so you bet your ass I did, he of course says sure $4 a game. I'm thinking holy shit yes.. because my friends.. this is what was in that box of awesome... The first 2 games I grab are
Sonic Adventure and Grandia II! Both complete with manuals and the discs are in mint condition. Gradia II even has a soundtrack cd which I didn't even know so that was a nice bonus.
Then I looked through some more... and holy fuck..... HOLY FUCK........
I could hardly believe what I just saw, I almost half expected the cases to have the wrong game in them. BUT HOLY SHIT $4 a piece!!! Both of these go for upwards of $50-70 on ebay, I saw the PS2 version of MVC2 at Gamestop a month ago and it was $75 used, had to be the most expensive used game I've ever come across at Gamestop! WHO WOULD GIVE THESE AWAY!? Obviously a very naive person.
That's awesome dude (or Dude-ette). I love finding old video games at Goodwill. I've had a few good hauls before, but none as good as this one, so congrats!
Congrats, that's is amazing deal. I would love to get those in my collection too.
Nice score, especially No One Can Stop Mr Domino!!!!!!!!
I was just playing that the other day. Grandpa's in the House may be the greatest videogame level of all time (especially if you beat it with a perfect).
Dude nice work!!!! Especially on God Hand! Mr. Domino was unloved; I remember playing that for hours on end despite how terrible it actually was. I just picked up Castlevania: COD today so I'm happy as well.
@Jonathan Holmes
Everything you just said is just one reason why I love this community/website.
lucky bastard.
How much the entire thing run you?
How do people managed to find FFVII copies that don't cost fifty to seventy bucks?
My third disc is scratched to hell and I'd really like to know how to get a new one without spending an arm and a leg...
Are the MvC really that expensive? I have both of my Dreamcast versions. Love those games.
Holy crap, those Marvel vs. Capcom games are absolutely amazing.
I'm jealous that you got Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, which I've been wanting to play through, but can't read a word of Japanese. I also recently found Grandia II, complete with manual and soundtrack CD. It's still one of my favorite RPGs ever.
Wow, the international covers of FFVII and FFX are awesome. How come I couldn't have those covers on my copies of those games? You're a lucky fellow, especially on the MvC games and, of course, No One Can Stop Mr. Domino.
Great haul, man.
I was wondering when youl'd post something interesting. And then it was like "Oh shit son. MvC copies for $4?"
This is freaking incredible!!! Nice haul, especially the MVSC games.
And Mr. Domino!!!! No one can stop him!!!!!!
Marvel vs Capcom and MvC2 for $8. Holy fucking shitfuck.
Godbless mom's that give away their son's shit while he's at college.
Makes me wish I still had my Dreamcast, sir!
Vandal Hearts... hmmm... I think I've heard of that game, even played it, but I can't remember a smidgeon of info about it. Sweet finds though, the International versions box art of the FF games are awesome.
That deal you got on MvC2 in particular has to be one for the record books.
I thought I had a good haul today... I envy you sir.
Good work!!!!!!!!!!
I am incredibly jealous, there are no good places to buy old games for incredibly cheap in Seattle.
Dude, really nice haul!
I guess this means I need to start raiding the Goodwill near me constantly, juuuuuuuuust in case.
No, seriously, it's a short bike ride away from me. I can visit daily if I have to! The only thing I found last time I was there was a rather dirty PS1 original model with some WWE Smackdown title in the system. Seemed to still have the power cord, but nothing else.
@Pedrovay2003
You really don't need to know any Japanese for it, all the cut scenes are in English, and yes while the text is Japanese its fairly easy to figure out because all the items have icons that associate what they are. There is a really awesome translation guide on gamefaqs to help you with the few things that you may get confused about.
@MisterGrieves
Well funny thing is I got that copy off ebay actually and I got lucky and won the auction at $30 free shipping, which is relatively cheaper than the usual asking price for it. I do see alot of people selling just 1 disc from the game a lot on ebay if you just need to replace your third disc, plus do you know about the trick where if you have messed up cd's if it freezes on a cut scene pop in another disc and it should just skip the scene and continue with the game since the game is on all 3 discs. youtube the scene if you need to see it.
@De Bloo
The most expensive items I suppose were the FFX International, FFVII US and International, and Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. They were all about $30 a piece. The rest of the haul were no more than $10 a game with a lot of them being merely a buck or two.
Nice man, I got a vintage copy of Missile Command for the Atari 2600 at Goodwill.
@Chronoswing
Thanks for the tips, I didn't actually know they sold separate discs (which is kind of sad when you think about it...).
Unfortunately, I don't think that trick would work with my disc's problem. It doesn't freeze up at cutscenes (that would be too kind). It instead freezes up occasionally during the random battle transitions, which is infuriating.
Holy shit. What a great find.
Also, we have McKay's in Tennessee -- excellent place. Once I finish up my backlog, you bet your ass I'm going to be hitting it up.
Holy shit amazing find. You sir are a lucky guy.
@MisterGrieves
Also you could always have the disc resurfaced, I hear gamestop does it but I've never asked, I have my local video store do it for $5. I've brought completely dead discs back to life that way, they work like brand new again.
Where the hell do you live that you can find that haul in a Goodwill? I got lucky if I can find a used PS1 and some scratched up games.
Your Goodwill powers rival those of Dyson. Nice haul, lucky bastard :P
The best thing I found at my goodwill was sonic spinball and sonic 2 for two dollars apiece. *sad face*
fucking amazing haul. Well played, sir. well played.
That might be the sickest Goodwill haul ever. Mint MvC games?!
gawdamn. nice haul.
You are awesome
